Why do you have so many speakers?

For those that are new to this or maybe to those that are just uneducated let's have a heart to heart.

- If your listening area is the size of a bathroom you don't need 9 speakers.
- If the only way you can "mount" surround speakers is by placing them on the floor or 40ft above your head don't do it.
- If your main speakers are less than 4ft apart you don't need a center channel and even that's debatable (mine are 9ft with no center).
- Atmos is not the same if you stack a speaker on top of another speaker. Thinking sound will bounce of the ceiling and back down to you ears with any realism is wishful thinking.
- Your cables shouldn't cost more than any one speaker in your setup.
- You don't need a $5K receiver to run a pair of JVC speakers or 90% of popular brands.

It's odd to see some of the living spaces people try to force sound into. Ultimately your stuff would sound better with a 2-ch setup staged properly than adding yet another thing. It's ok not to have a dedicated movie area and it's ok to have quality over quantity!

Are you referring to those particular speakers or the stacking thereof?
Stacking of both back surrounds ... created like a mono channel more like 6.1 .
The speakers are more less non directional.

Bottom line if you absolutely cannot, or at least get close to, place your speakers in the proper layout it's better to go without.

This isn't very useful, it's not a percentage thing and on even moderately expensive speakers, this would be far too much to spend.

Because I like to design and build speakers. Having them in use is easier than storing them.

I agree that you can make an excellent sounding system with two speakers, but I guess we do have some sort of weird addiction problem.

Here is how to put 19 speakers to good use.

That's eleven right there.

Here is another four.

And another four.

These three speakers are in storage, plus at least another two.

If you think I need intervention, I will see you in court!

OTOH you're about as far from a beginner/audiophyte around here as there can be in a coupla respects. Something perhaps for those to aim at with many many years of dedication to the craft perhaps.....and a lot of money.

Impressive speakers he built I couldn’t imagine how complex it is , I cannot understand crossovers let alone how to build speakers .
I had to have a friends Help to make a diy sub box and we didn’t add enough bracing ... so at high volume it flexes the box a little bit ... but I am barred from bringing it downstairs... I’m sure my mom won’t allow a real subwoofer .. not like I need a monster sized sub for-cable tv it would be cool.
Realized without it my system sounds a little flat lacking bass depth .
