Whole house Audio Speakers

Hi All,

I am working with a few integrators for whole house audio. The speakers listed below are ones which were suggested for whole house audio by 2 different integrators. There is a significant difference in price. Please help me select an integrator.

One guy has Invision speakers (something in the $80 price range)

The other guy has Proficient audio C610s @ 175/pr in there.

This is mostly for background music for parties and the like. Is the extra cost worth it? Is the $80 guy giving me junk?

House speakers

I am planning on using these NXG speakers for my whole house system.

The company is kind of under the radar, but they were recommended by a major custom installer and one of the moderators on this site for my application. They were also used in my parents high end house.

You can get their 6" in-ceiling "pro" line for about $140/pair and $100/pair for their lower end line.

For the main HT room, I would recommend a bookshelf type speakers system for more performance for the money.

Get the Proficient. A decent product for decent money. I prefer TruAudio in ceilings by far when dealing in that price range. See if one of them can get that brand for you as they are built extremely well. I question the pricing of the Proficients. $175 a pair is high for that line. They are sold through distributors like ADI. Proficients are made by Speaker Craft and have a simmilar quality to Speaker Craft's lower end models.

I have used NXG a bunch, and have had good results with them. I use all Jamo now, but you can get the contractor grade Jamo for around the same price as the NXG's! They are a better sounding speaker, and they have a LIFETIME war. on them! So if you are going to get NXG, that is cool, but just get the regular NXG and not the pro and save a bunch of money.

Just remember this is more for "mood" music, and you are not going to be needing to spend a boat load of money on these. Another speaker that I have had a lot of luck with is Niles.

That is my .02 cents.

Also, you may want to audition the Energy in-ceiling speakers. I heard them at an installers privateshow room and was pretty amazed.
