Hello, I need a little bit of help identifying some speakers.
My boss at work purchased some speakers at audio sell out market on the weekend but we can’t find who makes them or any information about them.
box description written on the side says,
Symphony Orchestra.
Perfection by design.
Germany since 1958.
model: piano infante SO-9.
AAA by Euro Audio 2004.
Engineered in Germany.
On the back of the speaker there are 4 plugs for the quad speaker wire.
Also says on back of the speaker made in Berlin Germany..
I am starting to think there a cheap ASIAN import, we live in Australia..
If anyone can help us finding out who makes these speaker would be very much appreciated.
Thanks..

Hi, I recently bought the same speakers from a market and I also recieved a supposed company brochure. There is an internet site at www.symphony-orchestra.com that talks about the SO-9 speakers and although the site looks very nice I have looked all over the internet to find any information about these speakers but I cant find anything which is also leading me to believe that they are cheap asian imports considering on the back of my speakers it doesn't say made in Berlin but made in china!

Is it worth unscrewing the drivers out of the cabinet and see whats written on the back of the actual speaker?
Im guessing its made in China!

Might give you a little more detail to what their power is etc..

http://www.globalsources.com has list of many Asian suppliers, you can check it out by entering any names you can find on the back of the driver.
If they are listed on globalsouces.com that's a good news....

they kind of look like those white van speakers popping up every once and awhile, but I'm not sure, these actually look alot better so it looks like some care went into making them. But 3000 dollar speakers being sold at an audio sell out market sounds kind of shady, if they sound good and he didn't pay too much for them, then who cares.

Scam

That website was thrown together in a day. Try clicking on the mfg's history. White van through and through. WTH is "Germany since 1958"? That website is almost comical. The SO 8000 speakers Low frequency extension is:
-10dB @ 41Hz
-6dB @ 45Hz
-3dB @ 48Hz
That's horrible for a 67" tall speaker.

They have 5 anechoic chambers for testing! Plus their transducers are CAD designed with further refinement utilizing technology such as Finite Element Analysis, Stereo Lithography Apparatus, and Laser Interferometers...quite an impressive collection of technology for a company I've never heard of...hmm. Well at least they have the cash flow to sponsor the World Symphony Orchestra...ten pages of Google, and no direct match?

Conclusion: white truck

These definitely ARE the white van speakers. Someone tried to push a set on the Audioholics classified site. At the time I found a website FILLED with complaints from Auzzies getting ripped off. Google BSS speakers (these guys frequently change the speaker names to try to keep ahead of the law). You'll see many, many very angry buyers.

Some wise administrator removed the offensive post and responses.

at least they probably posted true specs, but d@mn a 67" tall speaker, thats got to be imposing sitting next to a TV if your not using a 100" Front Projector.

Have you at least tried using them, maybe hook them up for a stereo somewhere else in the house, that way they aren't just sitting there taking up space.

i dont know why you would burn your receiver they are 8ohm speakers arent they?

PS: Brownsville, Texas huh..I was in South Padre for Spring break back in March, we swung down to brownsville to go to Mexico during the day one time. I do have to say, none of you darned Texans know how to drive anywhere, everyone doing the speed limit instead of 10 or 15 over and no one uses their blinker, drove us insane. The best part was the "Border" Patrol station on that highway that goes north to Corpus Christy. We drive up, they ask the driver if he is an american citizen, he says yes, we get through....what kind of patrol is that, we drove up and saw dogs and hummers and guys with guns and sat in this big line all for 2 seconds.....Texas.....thats all you can say

You think thats bad try Sunrise Florida, with all the retirees. Serious, 90 year olds on I-95 doing 45 on a 65 Hgwy. Same with around town, 25 on a 45, and then stop in the middle of the road to sit and wonder if they want to make a right turn....

Clint lives in Florida he can back me on this one...

We drive actally like people drive in mexico. You are lucky that we even respect the traffic lights, lol. That street you drove on to go to mexico, well the cop are very hard on people that speed. there are two to three streets that people usually don't speed, and that is one of them. Anyways you can get across town very easily without speeding. i usually don't speed, i like listening to music in the car......

I got in an accident from someone doing that, jsust stopping in the middle of the road, they had actually put it in park so there was no break light...turned out to be an 82 year old woman and her 93 year old sister going to the dentist so I couldnt even yell at them.

Oh, I've got a story about my now passed away grandfather that is hysterical.
But I may need to go over to Steam Vent to post it, since we keep hijacking threads....
Plus its long, I'll have to type it up tonight with our quotes from this post...
Now back to Identify these.
Granted they have been identified

Not anymore - HAHA. My grandparents live in Sunrise. If I am very fortunate I will never drive in that town again. If YOU are very fortunate you will never be on the road with my grandfather.

BTW. Here is a simple formula:

High MSRP price + got them cheap + nobody heard of them = white van

Every time.
