Who is/was mad at me?

I just checked my user CP today and took a look at my rep points. Not that I care about them, but I found one negative point for a post on the recording thread in the Newbie section and a gray one with this:

"Most of your posts are of no value; have you even heard the equipment you talk about?"

Now, regarding the recording thread, if I was wrong or inaccurate, I would appreciate it if whoever did that would PM me. I would gladly edit/delete my post if I was giving bad information. But leaving a negative rep with nothing attached doesn't help anyone.

Regarding the comment of my posts having no value, I would appreciate a PM from whoever that was. I don't want to get into a pissing match, but I'd at least like to have a conversation with that someone instead of receiving a random insult. For reference, the quote is from my "w00t for 2000 posts" thread that I started in the steam vent.

To whomever feels that my posts "are of no value", I'd be inclined to agree with you sometimes. Yes, I understand that many are short, and are often replies to earlier queries or comments. Most people on these boards operate this way. And in fact, the only person that I can think of that doesn't abuse his posting at all, would be WmAx.

Anyway, now I'm just rambling. I would just like to know who I pissed off. I have no need or interest in making enemies.

Any anonymous jerk can post a negative comment. From my perspective you are a valued member of this forum and should not let this get to you.

Jaxvon,

I don't think that there is anyone on this forum who is more helpful than you are. You are always courteous, informative and helpful. By being visible, you leave yourself open to criticism and resentment, but only from small minded types. Don’t sweat it.

Hey. Not done.

I didn't get to say.....you are THE gentleman on this forum, by far! The person(s) that sent you that red/grey chic has no clue and is most likely an insecure and immature individual. Fuhgitaboutit.

Now, as far as the football congrats....phooey...you let ND rip your boys. I get the same feeling about Notre Dame as I do Klipsch speakers, lol! "Where's the ice pick?!" ;)

Two things: Does anyone get the grey/gray chiclet? And I'm glad that I'm not the only one who always types "grey" instead of "gray". I think "grey" is the English spelling, and since I was raised on British comedy and spent time with my Dad's super cool English friend, it got stuck in my vocabulary at some point.

Both games this year were terrible losses. Stupid mistakes that happened OVER and OVER and OVER resulted in both. I think Carr has gotten them back into shape though. At least I hope so. We'll see what happens when we play Minnesota, OSU, and Penn State.

Forget the chicklets!

I also recieved a negative point on that thread. For this post:

http://forums.audioholics.com/forums/showpost.php?p=102734&postcount=9

I guess that my dislike of close miced acoustic recordings warranted a negative chicklet. :) No comment was given. However I also recieved a positive chicklet for another post in that thread, with someone calling me "a whore for Behringer" in the comment. Wonder who that could have been? :) RE: your question about grey/gray chicklets: I recieved two grey/gray chicklets on one recent thread for backing mtrycrafts.

People can give me negative chicklets for fun if they wish; it's irrelevant to me. My posting history will demonstrate my value as a poster to this forum. Your posting history proves yours. I don't know why you care about the chicklets; they appear to be nothing more than a popularity ratings system.

Forget the chicklets!

It isn't the chiclets I care about. I just noticed that someone was trying to tell me something via the chiclet system. All I'm saying is that someone should let me know if I gave bad info or if I offended someone.

Thank you for the clarification. I still would not give the chicklets consideration. If the person whom gave the negative chicklet does not take the effort to reply to your post, or even provide a comment along with the negative chicklet, then it seems probable that this person has not given much thought to the original issue in the first place. I recommend forgeting them and the chicklets...

Don't worry about it - REALLY! The chicklets are a joke really as it seems to take about 10,000 to get more than 1 green chicklet. Plus, people who are clueless are happy to give you a negative for just telling them something they don't want to hear.

I spent $25,000 on a used Yugo... Is it a good car?

NO!

Well, a red chicklet for you then for your horrible answer to my question you insensitive bastard.

;) ;)

Really, I am not into anonymous feedback. Feedback should always be tied to a user if it is going to mean anything. Give me a negative? Then leave a comment and be prepared to back up what you have to say! Get in the habit of leaving negative chicklets? Be ready to be kicked off the boards for simply having a closed mind.

I can't imagine ever giving a negative chicklet here unless someone just comes out and starts attacking me directly. Not my ideas - me.

Eh, I get red and grey chicklettes all the time. I don't let it bother me. And its not even for anything I think is bad (pedophilia is more fun than burning churches!), it usually because I let slip the occassional "light blue" goddamned, or goddarnit. Of course when I say anything that should be grey or red chicklette'd, like that time I called someone a meat-smoking *** dumpster, it just go's right over the radar.

I have to confess, It was me!!! I'd do it again. It's because of the U of Mich avatar. It's not that I don't like their football team, it's just that it is the worst school in the world and has the slowest, least attractive students as well! Ha, there you go, take that suckers. Seriously though I've gotten a red one myself, because someone disagreed with me. I've never given out a red one yet, but I couldn't care less if I get a bunch. I always try to read the stuff some guys post, and Jaxvon is one of them because at least he tries to help, and he can generally justify his positions/suggestions. I think I have like 40 points, and I'm cool with that. You can't keep everyone happy, and slandering others is really what the internet is all about. If I ever do give out a red chicklet I'll make sure to sign it and explain why I gave it.

If you don't agree with someone or feel that they have given erroneous information, then you should have the guts to reply to the post - not hide behind the stupid red chiclets. You can point out factual errors without being insulting.

We have quite a few contentious debates on this forum and so far very few have resorted to personal attacks. That is good. Debate is just that - point and counterpoint. The weight of your argument gets the message across far better than saying 'What are you F'in stupid!'.
