Who else hates the pop-culture view of woofer excursion?

Is it just me, or are more and more commercials using subwoofers in them, that don't excurt forward, but to the side. So they go from a 10inch to 12 and then 8. Or the whole speaker box gets bigger and smaller, including the tweeter?!?!? You gotta love the youth demographic these days, ruining everything. If they knew anything, you can't see a woofer moving from head on, unless its a terrible driver and its not moving linearly

Everyone vent, I know you all see this too. Time for another Giant thread. :)

I believe you mean excursion (not excurtion). But how many times are you at eye level with a sub?
EDIT:: Please no more long threads like that last one

Sheep,

I may have a hangover (Buckeyes blew it - arrrrg), but I'm lost on this one. Can you give some examples of speakers you are talking about?

They are not speakers in real life, its commercials that use speakers in them, like drawings or animations. But the speakers don't exurt forward and back. They just get bigger and small in daimeter. You must have seen this before, its everywhere. Theres a rogers commercial with a woofer, and your looking at it head on, and you can see the surround moving as if you were looking from the side. another one is a walmart commercial and its a concert(trying ot be hip) and speakers pop out of the ground, and get bigger and smaller in daimater, they don't exurt forward and backward.

I'm not really sure why you are upset over this one. TV commercials have just a few moments to grab the attention of an audience. From what I've noticed (I'm purely speaking of my own personal viewing habits, which happen to be as low-brow as they come) TV programming is often not an accurate representation of reality.

no that doesn't annoy me, because it is an actually speaker. Its not some eye grabbing physics defying piece of garbage :)

I guess I hate the nature of advertising, but how they dragged speakers into it also annoys me.

.....there's no weirdly excursioned woofer involved, but have ya'll seen the Hardee's commercial with the chicken?....the chicken can't play ball, the chicken can't juggle, he's only good for eatin'.....
