Hi all,
perhaps somebody of you guys can give me a hand in choosing some nice tubes for my YAQIN MC-10L Integrated EL34B Tube Amplifier. I use it now for 6 months with it's original Chinese tubes. Now I am at the point for some tube rolling and try to get the maximum out of it without putting the maximum amount of money in it

Which tubes aren't expensive, fit into above amplifier and sound good?

Here are the specs of my amp:

Input Power
110V-240V AVAILABLE

Output Power
52W x 2 "8 ohm"

Valve / Tubes
4 x EL34B

Frequency
20Hz-60kHz "±1.5dB 10W"

Lose true degree
2% "40W"

Signal/Noise Ratio
85dB "A Weight"

Load impedance
8ohm or 4ohm

Signal Inputs Level
300mv

Input Consumption
250w

Thanks in advance....

Good tubes aren't necessarily cheap- you need to decide how much you want to spend and go from there.

Ok, let's say the budget would be for 4 main tubes 100-150 $.

What can I get for that? Which brand is recommended? JJ, Tungsen, Solvtek...

Thanks....

I used JJ E34L (not a typo) tubes in my Conrad Johnson amp and they sounded good. At the time, they had a problem with the pins being undersized but I got a replacement set of Electro-Harmonics which had a darker sound than the JJ and I liked the JJ tubes more because they had better high frequency response. You want a matched set of four. You can bias the tubes in your amp but bias isn't the only consideration when matching them.

Awesome, I will try them out. I could get a burned in quad for about 60 US$ at tubedepot.com.

Thank you very much!

I have no beef with tubedepot.com at all, they have excellent service and broad selection.

But before you buy, check out to see if you have any local pro-audio/guitar amp specialists, who often sell the same tubes for half what tubedepot.com charges. (They don't market to audiophiles, and the savings are passed to you! And the guy I use is at least as meticulous as tube depot regarding matched tubes, etc. Maybe musicians are even more picky than audiophiles?) Save some money, or buy several sets of tubes for the same amount so you can roll.
