Thinking about replacing two Velodyne 1012 subs, due to age.been looking at Hsu VTF-1MK3 and SVS PB 1000 and SB 1000. I'm probably 50/50 movies and music. The room is 12w x 15l.Thanks any suggestions will be appreciated!

Normally you go ported unless you live in an apartment or have an intolerant spouse/roommate.

In terms of performance I doubt you'd have a huge difference between HSU and SVS. Both are good reputable brands with a long track record and excellent service. I will say I recommend getting one amazing sub over two lesser subs because it leaves a better upgrade path.

What's the total volume of space (in cu-ft) including any opening to another rooms (stop only if there walls or doors) ??
Assuming it's enclosed space of 12x15x(guess)9 is about 1600cuft so any of subs you selected will do very well. HSU's offering is better value (at current sale price), but SVS pb1000 will provide a bit more power and low bass extension.
Either of these subs properly positioned in room and calibrated will do very well for both music and ht.
Like lsiberian said, higher end sub will be better choice long term and if you could swing extra for VTF-2 MK5 - that's the one I'd recommend to go with.
