Which sub HSU VTF-1 or SVS PB10 NSD?

Thinking of upgrading the dayton 12" sub in my bedroom and I've been very happy with my SVS, but the HSU VTF-1 would cost about as much as the PB12 NSD would. I have never used a HSU sub, but haven't heard anything bad about them. What do you think would give me the most bang for the buck out of these two subs? Or should I just go with the STF-2 and save some money, since I would keep the VTF in the low tuning mode all the time anyway if I went that route. And I would also just go with the basic black finish, as to help keep costs down to a minimum.

Does anyone happen to know if SVS is discontinuing the PB10 NSD? They used to have it available in 3 finishes, but now only the basic black finish is available, and since they have upgradedd all their other lines, and discontinued the PB12 NSD/2 it makes me wonder. Hopefully if they are they will offer a discount on it, or a nice discount on it's replacement, that would make my purchasing decision much easier.

No, I believe that he NSD series is remaining the same---aside from the things you already mentioned as they have discontinued their Plus 2 models, but the NSD 10 and 12 are still available only in the textured black finish though...

Does SVS offer a discount to returning customers, or was that just something they did when offering the new Plus series for pre order?

Shoot 'em an email and they will be back to you in no time. ;) People talk up the SVS customer service for a reason. They are top notch as you probably already know! I can speak only for my SVS but does the VTF-1 really line up apples to apples with the PB10NSD? The VTF-1 will not fight below 25hZ and as for your original post the VTF-1 is priced $150 UNDER the PB12NSD not the same. I think you would have to look at the VTF-2 versus the PB12NSD for a good comparison and now dollar for dollar, the PB10NSD is your best boom for the buck. From what I have read here you are going to get more folks in favor the SVS PB10NSD at $429. Stepping up to the PB12NSD (I went with the PC12NSD :) for space reasons) is an even better buy. Good Luck.

Yeah, I currently love my 20-39PC+ and since the sub would be going in my bedroom, I really don't need much, and the PB10 NSD would even be severe overkill, but there is no such thing as too much headroom :D I'm sure I will go with that once I get the money up for it. I just wish it was a tad smaller though, but I can still fit it no problem, I also think I'm going to like it's front ported design as well.

My general rule of thumb with regards to SVS and HSU is this: if you want better performance under 30hz, get the SVS; if you want something more musical, get the HSU. That's not to say the HSU can't rumble and the SVS isn't musical.
