I am looking for 2 speakers, left and right. I already have a Onkyo SR506, HSU STF-1 and a Playstation 3. These speakers will be used for music, movies and gaming.

I recently bought the M Audio AV40s but will be returning them - they are preamped and more suited for PC use.

I live in Brampton, ON so local stores that carry speakers would also be appreciated

e.g. bestbuy.ca, futureshop.ca, 2001audiovideo.ca, etc

thanks

Ever considered NHT? They go out of business and sell everything at very good price

I would stay away from the stores you listed. Look for a specialty shop that carries a range of speakers. Look at brands like PSB in your price range.

You might also consider Axiom, an Internet Direct company. They are just 'up the road' from you (near Huntsville). Something like the M2 or M3.

do u think I should keep the Polk RM10s 5 channel speaker system? Do you think it is adequate enough for my bedroom? I wanted to switch to a 2 or 3 channel system though (less mess and wires) and higher quality speakers for music.

I do not know anything about the RM10. Whether or not you keep them is a decision only you can make though.

Go and listen to some speakers in your price range and see if the sound improvement is enough to make you want them.

Being in the TO area, you should have lots of shops and a wide range of speakers to listen to.

FWIW, pick shops that have dedicated listening rooms. It is very difficult to evaluate a speaker in an open retail area with lots of background noise (like Best Buy). Also take music that you are familiar with and that you know is well recorded.

I will toss out the Behringer 2030 pair. Get the passive ones. Wmax talks about them in many threads. He's found their construction to be excellent.
