Which should I try: Axiom M22, Ascend 340, Swan 2.1 ?

I looked at the Dana too believe me, but I'm having some misgivings about it.

After reading Craigsub's impressions, I got the idea that it was a musical speaker with good soundstage and detail but might have been somewhat lacking in bass.

Besides, he said that it was great for jazz and classical. Now I think a listener's opinion of a speaker is going to be heavily influenced by how it plays his selections. When you say it is great with jazz/classical, I'm not sure that conclusion extends to something like rock, for example. Agreed, I'm trying to deduce a lot from a few words, but the very fact that he mentions this makes me think it might not be the best overall choice.

Anyway, who is Silversurfer? Is he on these boards?

Oh yeah. You can be sure I've done this a few times already! I was just pointing out to Soundman in case he thought the photo on the main page was the BC version.

The BC has an interesting look as far as I can tell from the photo. Not like any other I've seen in terms of color and finish. But then I haven't seen many. It might look good, or it might look ok. I can't say.

yes, the BC, it's hard to tell the looks, but looks better than the ascends to me. the D2.1SE looks nice!

Craig is a really nice guy. I purchased a set of 16-46pc+'s from him a few years back. Has way too much time on his hands.

I don't think I will be of much help. I own 340SE's, and have heard the M22, but none of the other speakers being asked about. I am interested in the Sierras, but that is because I own Ascends. Not sure I want to subject myself to that torture though.

Interesting that the Ascend Sierra has the smallest cabinet with the bass they put out.

Those of you who have been following my progress keenly D) will be glad to note that I have finally taken some action.

I have successfuly placed an order for a pair of AV123's Rocket RS250 MkII from their b-stock. I am looking forward to trying these out at home. If they are not satisfactory in some regard (or for whatever other reason), expect to see them offered here after a few weeks. It may not come to that, however.

No further information is forthcoming on the Danas and I am ruling them out of the competition for the sake of practicality. Not much is clear about the Swan 2.1s either. I also briefly considered the Swan 4.1BC, but decided against after reading some unfavorable opinion. Besides, a tower was not particularly desirable anyway.

Its going to be between the Rocket and the MA Silver. Stay tuned for more .

Congrats! It sounds like you got a good deal. I'm sure you'll like the Rockets just b/c they are soooo beautiful. But be sure to post your comments on their performance. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts. Happy listening!

Oh yeah, I'm sure I'll love them simply because they look so good . They are expected to arrive tomorrow. But I don't have a receiver yet. Bummer! I took care of that and ordered one just today. So it'll be next week before I do any listening.
