I have a fairly small living room and I will be buying a set of speakers to match my Yamaha RX-V2500. I have a small living room and have decided to go with wall mounted satellite speakers. I know that these won't sound as good as larger bookshelves, but I decided to go with these because of their size and the size of my room. I have narrowed the list down to 4 possibilities. I will ultimately listen to my choices and decide which ones to go with, I am just looking for what you would buy based on your experiences. The price differences between them aren't really a concern. Here are my options:

(1) Boston Acoustics - Micro 120x (For Front and Rear), PV700 Sub, MicroCenter

(2) DefTech ProCinema - ProMonitor 100 (For Front and Rear), Pro Sub 100TL, Pro Center 100

(3) Paradigm Cinema - Cinema 90 (For Front and Rear), Cinema 90 sub, Cinema CC Center

(4) RBH - MM-4 (For Front and Rear), MS - 8.1 sub, C-4 Center

are these gonna be your first set of speakers?
i just want you to know that i started EXACTLY the way you're thinking. i thought, "hey its a small room etc. etc." (i bought satellites too) but im buying new speakers now (bookshelves and towers)

i bought these before

http://www.jbl.com/home/products/product_detail.aspx?prod=SCS150SI&CheckProduct=Y

with the Yamaha Rx-v640

the combo above was already good enough for me (i never got anywhere near the high volumes)

i am upgrading because i want that "full" sound that comes from a wooden speaker box (and its human nature)

on another note:
i dont know the specs of your satellites but isnt the yamaha 2500 a bit overkill?

e.g. mm4 (although this has a sensitivity of 85db - brick?)

Mike,
Yes, they will be my first set. Yes, my situation is similar to yours in that the volume levels will also never be very high. Yeah, I know that the 2500 is overkill but I got a really good deal on it and more importantly I will use some of the extra features on it (while not the ample power obivously). Do you see a problem in this? Thanks.

definitely no problem. more power is always good. it also makes it future proof. i cant use the 640 i bought for the new setup im buying

i have yet to bring it home, but i've spent quite some time in the store listening to it ... its great! there's this "complete and full" sound that comes from bookshelves/towers that satellites dont ... of course YOU wont notice it until you listen to them consecutively.

also, in my previous setup, i wished that my center channel was "louder"? so that the left and right channels dont smudge the dialogue of the movies. you might want to spend extra research on that

I'd go witht the MM-4 out of the ones you listed. The Yamaha is definitely NOT overkill for these speakers, the more power you can give them the better. The MS 8.1 sub on the other hand,...well it's OK, but the RBH TS-10AP is much better and well worth the extra $$$

Mike,
Well, I believe that the Boston Acoustics setup would be the most expensive. Their System520 (which is the configuration that I have listed) is listed as $1,450 on their website. I believe that the DefTech's and Paradigm Cinema's are slightly less expensive then this. The RBH's I can't seem to find a price online but I would assume that they are roughly the same as well. I am sure that I could get a deal to knock a little off of the MSRP.

MSRP on the RBH CT-5.1 package (1 C-4 center, 4 MM-4 and 1 MS-8.1) is $1199

Thanks Nova! Any idea of where I can find a list of dealers for RBH? Couldn't find a link on their website and tried google but came up empty. I am in Western Maryland but wouldn't mind going within a 100 mile radius or so to try them out. I sent them an email asking them this same question and got no response. Doesn't seem like a very good way to try to sell your product.
