Which receivers do you want/recommend?

As an independently owned business and custom integration company, we offer a variety of products and services. However, I always want feedback from my fellow audionuts, geeks (term of endearment only), etc. We currently have one receiver line that we like very much (I will not name it in hopes of getting a full spectrum reply) and deal in. However, it does not have some of the features that we could really use, and customers ask for, such as HDMI switching, etc.

Which brings me to my question: As a consumer base, what do you want, look for expect, etc. in an A/V receiver? If a custom integrator was to come to your home and do a proposal/evaluation, what types of receivers would you expect or hope they would offer to you?

Your feedback in helping our small business grow is greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Dave:D

If I was working with a dealer . . .

I would ask for the Yamaha RX-V2600. If the dealer didn't offer this model, I would probably buy it elsewhere and purchase the remaining equipment from the dealer.

Was initially looking at the Denon 3805 but the hdmi switching on the 3806 was the reason I when with it... anything else was miles out of my budget

You should carry both brands that people know and some more esoteric brands as well. I would want an installer to offer either Parasound or Anthem products as well as Bryston. Receiver wise I'd say Pioneer 1015 and Elite models, Denon, Marantz, Yamaha, and Nad would be the more main stream offerings I'd like to see. HDMI switching has so much promise but you can buy a switching box so it isn't a necessity on any receiver for me.

Want? Marantz 9600, Denon 4806 or 5805 :D

Like? Marantz, Arcam, NAD, B&K, Outlaw, Denon's higher stuff.

You might also look at the most recent Outlaw sttuff is looking very solid. www.outlawaudio.com , both receivers and separates. You may want to look into the most recent offerings from Onix at www.av123.com though I don't know if they allow their stuff to be rep'ed by shops or not.

As a Canadian I would like to see these in your list

Classe, Simaudio, and Bryston. These are all considered high-end stuff so I think You would want to carry NAD, Yamaha, Denon, Marantz, Onkyo to cover us working folk *G*

Recievers I don't want to see are Sony and Panasonic.

Some companies have brand image as being "audiophile/ videophile". From a business perspective, it will be good to have some of these on display (if you have a walk in establishment). Just the name, looks, price tag, and the fact that you carry them will make customers believe that you have authority in the business. But you must also carry brands that your Average 9am-5pm Joe with a hobby can afford. Just being able to say that you can install a setup for all budgets will increase business. Then again, you already knew that.

These based on reviews I have read or products I have drooled over: Lexicon, Krell, Thule, Anthem

For your Average 9to5 Joe (like me): Denon, Marantz, Yamaha, H/K, Onkyo, Sony, Pioneer.

Bryston, Classe, Simaudio, Linn etc. are all good, but no two names speak louder than Krell and Mark Levinson. They are the heavy weights. To a lesser extent McIntosh and Audio Research also rank way up there.
