Which Receiver to Keep?

...For our master bedroom. After replacing the one in the living room, I can put that one in the bedroom (a Sony STRDB930), or stick with the one I'm currently using (an Onkyo TX-SV515PRO). The Onkyo is great, don't get me wrong (80w front, 50w center, 20w rear- discrete) but the lack of digital hook-ups could be a problem down the road. Does anybody still make stand-alone digital decoders anymore? That would make my decision a lot easier.

Yes, there are some stand alone DACs out there to decode CDs. Or, you could just use the analog out from the CD player?

Actually, I was thinking more for movies (DD 5.1, DTS, etc). Obviously, the Sony's got all this, but the Onkyo was top-dog in its day (and sounds great). I may want true surround for the bedroom one of these days, but the Onkyo's not going to do this without some help... and where's a good place to start looking for a decoder?

DVD players can decode DTS and DD, most of them anyhow. See if your player has 6 ch RCA out and your Onky needs those inputs even if you have another outboard decoder.

Forget about buying an external decoder. For that price you can just buy a new Onkyo. Last years model 502 can be found for less than $200 and besides being able to decode all current formats, it will have a lot of other features that will come in handy too.
