Well I have decided on the SBS-01 system from SVS for my speakers/sub.
I was wondering if you guys can help me pick a receiver to power my speakers.
Predicted usage: 50% movies/TV, 30% games, 20%music
I'm going to be using my Panasonic 50" TH50PX80 to play PS3/blue-play movies and Xbox360.

I want a future-proof receiver. Something that has Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA decoding. I also came across the Audyssey Dynamic Volume that I'm really interested in.

The SBS-01 speakers are 20-120W according to their website. Does that mean I have to get a receiver that can output at least 120W? I've been looking at the Denon AVR789 and it has everything I need except it is only 90W per channel.

If there are any other things I need to consider to get my speakers running good please let me know.

Keep in mind I live in Canada I'll mostly be shopping around BB, Futureshop, and 2001 Audio Video. If there are any other stores in Canada that you know of please list them.

I had a stereo receiver with 65 Watts/channel with bookshelf speakers and I never felt the need for more power. Considering the SBS-01 speakers are five small speakers that don’t play low bass, 95W/ch should be good enough. The real demand for power is the low bass region and you will have a subwoofer with its own amplifier to handle that. I hope you are looking at a conservatively rated receiver with 95W/ch RMS 20Hz-20KHz, about 0.04% distortion, etc.

Look also at the Yamaha HTR-6160. You would only get 2 HDMI but get a better amp section and a full set of preouts.
