Hello people,

I would appreciate your input into which A/V Receiver i should buy.

I have a 50' Panasonic HD Plasma with 2 HDMI Inputs on the back.
I just bought Bose Accoustimass 16 Series 2 6.1 Speakers.
I would also like to coonect new Playstation 3 to the Plasma TV.

What are the best receivers that are available at a reasonable price.
I am looking for HDMI with atleast 3 HDMI plugins, 7.1 channel receiver......i am a newbee and so what other features i should be looking for.

Thanks again.

I just pulled the trigger on the Marantz SR-7001, it has 4 hdmi in 1 out and should take care of your needs very nicely.

What is your budget?

Also, are you tied to the Bose speakers or could you return them for something else? Had to ask!

As far as brands: Check out Marantz, Onkyo, Denon, Harman/Kardon and Yamaha. Those would be the first batch I'd look at assuming you don't want to spend a whole lot.

I would recommend returning the Bose and getting another sub-sat configuration with better reputation.

Thanks for the quick replies. :D

I am planning around $600-1100 for the receiver. I looked at Onkyo TX-SR674 and could get it for close to 600, and it has HDMI upconversion with 7.1 channels, but the only drawback i found was that it has ONLY TWO HDMI IN and one out.

I bought the bose speakers ($650)from my friend for half price as he was permanently moving abroad. So, i am kind of stuck with them. But i thought i got a good deal as the new one sells for 1299.

Bose usually charges about 3 times what they are worth. So you got almost a fair deal. (wasn't your friend's fault though)

Well, you can always sell the Bose for more than you paid for it probably. Heck if you just went out and bought a whole new system (speakers, sub and receiver) with the money you have for the receiver now you'd have a better sounding system.

Yamaha RX-V2700

3HDMI in. 1 out

Retail $1699.95

You shouldn't have a problem finding one for $1100

Just bought the Denon AVR for the uncoversion and HDMI switching, does 2 in 1 out I think. I also use it for my PS3. Set me back $600 shipped, then take the extra money and buy you an Oppo upconverting DVD player, and if you are that worried about it, and HDMI switcher.

*EDIT: The Yami would be good buy too

OP stated a need for 3 or more in. Denon with 3 in looks to be a bit more. Both brands are my top pick.
