Good Day To All,

Trying to decide on a new AVR, so did some shopping today.

Marantz SR6004 $888
Marantz Sr6003 $717
Onkyo SR707 $629
Pioneer Elite 23TXH $545
Denon 1910 $489
Onkyo SR607 $419

Am I really getting that much better of an AVR in terms of sound, build quality and features I will actually use by buying the Marantz compared to the Onkyo or the Denon. Is the Elite 23 TXH actually better than the Pioneer 1019?

Any advice most appreciated.

Thanks

Electronics Expo has Denon AVR-1910 A/V Receiver for $362 with free shipping after applying ccoupon code WS901X3807.

Not sure if that helps you with your decision or not, but I just saw that.

Before you buy the Marantz read some of the problems owners are experiencing with them.

In your budget range I'd consider the Onkyo RC180 or NR807 - especially if you are interested in internet radio and being able to stream audio directly to your AVR from a music server or PC/HTPC.

I trust Denon, Yamaha, & Harman Kardon.

Also note that HDMI v1.4 is coming out later this year.

Do you need it?

No.

But do you want it?

Why not?:D

Thanks To All, information most appreciated.

Did not know that there were some issues with Maranatz AVR's.

Will also check out the Onkyo models you mentioned.

The Denon 1910 at under $400 is looking pretty nice.

What to get this done before I start seeing reviews on the 2010 models, too much information

At those prices I'd consider the Denon or Pioneer 23.

When it comes to AVRs I found Yamaha to be great in the reciever market. They put out awesome sound and VERY reliable. I like the Mid point and Higher recievers, above 500.00. I don't know how good the entry level ones are. I NEVER had an issue with any Yamaha Reciever. We're going back 25 years here.

Pioneer Elite does not allow online sales. So anything Pioneer Elite purchased through online merchants will not carry the manufactures warranty. All items must be purchased through authorized brick and mortar dealers.

However some people have worked out deals through dealers that are willing to ship within limited areas.

Thanks for the tip about the Pioneer Elite warranty. Does that apply to Pioneer AVR's sold on the internet also or just the Elite series?

Brgds,
