Which one to hook up through HDMI?

So I'm getting a new TV this weekend, an HL-R5667. I have a Denon AVR-2802 to run the system (no DVI or HDMI in/outs on that), and a Denon 1910 DVD player that does have a DVI out jack. I also have a Scientific Atlanta 8000HD DVR which has the DVI jack. So, which component should I hook up to the HDMI input on the back of the TV?

And, really, I could use some advice on how to connect the whole setup at this point! Buying a TV used to be so easy!

Thanks in advance!

Use the DVD player, In my opinion. Because the way those dvd players work you need to use a digital cable (HDMI or DVI) in order to get the "upconverting". Then use the component cables for the DVR. You can use either Digital Coax or Fiberoptic from either machine to the receiver for audio. There should be no difference in sound quality through either. I prefer using Fiberoptic from DVD player and D-coax from DVR for some reason.

Yes I'd love the switch. But I'm married. One thing at a time man! One thing at a time! <g>

I agree, use the DVI for the dvd player. There is a possibility that the upconverter (faroudja DCDi on the 1910, right) is only on DVI, but i think most dvd players have the chip on both digital and analog hd outs (the only one i can think of that doesnt is the oppo). Also, I have actually heard people say that their cable TV quality has gone down when they switch from component to dvi... I am about to find out for myself since I'm going out to buy a dvi-hdmi cable for my little 26" 720p aquos in my workout room... The cable company left like a 10 foot component cable when the tv is mounted about 6 inches above where the cable box sits. yuck.

As for setup, from the cable box run digital coax or optical (there is literally no difference, i think coax runs a bit cheaper though) to your receiver, and a pair of stereo wires to your tv (in case you dont want to use your receiver while watching the news or w/e). I have noticed that my analog outputs to my tv and the digital output to my receiver are slightly off, extremely annoying to me if another person is using the surround sound but still has the TV speakers running... Of course they never notice lol.

For DVD i would say just component and digital audio to the receiver, and you should be good. Plus component out to the TV from the receiver of course. You might have to do s-video out as well, if the receiver doesn't have osd over component.
