Which One Of These 3 Receivers Should I Get A Hold Of?

Hi there,

I'm looking to upgrade my receiver.

Right now I have an HK-AVR 45 that needs to go into another room in my house.

I've narrowed it down to the HK AVR-635... the Outlaw 1070... or the Denon 3805, and I'd love to hear your opinion about which way I should go, and why.

I'm driving a pair of older Polk Audio speakers that still rock, playing mostly CDs with a Music Hall 25.2 CD player.

I'm usually listening to "something" rock or blues with killer guitar.

For instance Stevie Ray Vaughan... Audioslave... Hendrix... mixed in with stuff like Coldplay... the Dead... and Pearl Jam.

Anyhow, thanks in advance for your help, and thanks for reading this message.

Later, Craig

I suggest either the Elite 72 or 74TXVi, depending on whether you need HDMI switching.

Good suggestion, write on his list too :p

I would go for the 3805. Personally.

I must ask myself why the NAD T763 is not a part of your list???

It is the best sounding receiver in this price range. Go to hear it and you'll never regret...

I don't know about the Outlaw but I did listen to both the 635 and the 3805 driving Polk speakers. To me, the 3805 is a better buy between the two.

The nice thing about the Outlaw is that you could audition it at home for 30 days and return it if it doesn't meet your needs. To date it has received excellent reviews (Home Theater Mag, Home Theater Secrets). Additionally, it gives you some future proofing by offering the external inputs which can be configured as either pass-through, analog BM, or digital BM.
