Which is the better bang for the buck?

Just for reference, I live in Canada, so please keep in mind shipping/import costs when making suggestions. I have a Pioneer 1326k as my receiver and am currently running it with two Monitor 70's. I am wanting to move those to my backs, and get new fronts along with a matching centre speaker and purchase a sub. I am looking at the FV12 for a sub. The fronts I am looking at EMP e55ti for $400 a pair with the e56Ci for $450, or the KEF Q900 for $1350 a pair plus the Q600c for $490. Basically, I am looking for your personal experience with these speakers, and your opinion on whether or not the extra $1000 is worth it.

Also, feel free to add any other suggestions and any tips on setting up/cohesiveness of the speakers.

Lastly, what is your opinion on 5.1 vs 7.1. I'm not sure whether its worth my while to go for it. I am using this system for gaming and HT mostly, with a bit of music.

Thanks

Would my receiver be enough to power these speakers? I know that the sub isn't powered by the receiver. Would additional amping improve quality?

I have the EMP E55ti towers and they are awesome...they sound good and look beautiful...my receiver is older than yours and have no problem powering these speakers...

Sounds promising! Has anyone had an experience with the KEF speakers?

You can buy GranteedEV's EMP speakers for a good price, and then he can buy the Philharmonic speakers that he really really wants.:D

Are the Q900 worth the $1,000 extra? A million different response here.

To me, yes. To others, no.

Another vote for the Kef's here, but only you can determine if they're worth the extra coin.

I see that you are still having a hard time making a decision - you seem to
be going around in a circle. Buying, selling and looking at > Boston, Infinity,
Polk, Energy, Dali, EMP and KEF. If you are game, break the circle and try KEF.

I'm going to have to bite the bullet and take your advice. I have store credit at a local a/v store, so I'll avoid shipping/importing hassles too! I might try and sell my Monitor 70's and throw my Rti12's for the rears (which I picked up for $175 for a new pair).

Just to confirm, the FV12 is one of the best choices for subs at this price point right?

Only direct servo sub on the market for $500. FV12 has about same output above 20Hz as the Rythmik F15 (not the FV15HP).

Highly recommended.

I didn't care much for my living room, so back then I spent $270 on the BIC PL-200. But that was before I knew about the FV12. If could go back in time, I would have no doubt gotten the FV12.

Maybe some of my wife's relatives might buy my PL-200. Then I would get the FV12 for sure.:D
