Which CD Changer - Marantz CC 4300 or Denon 380?

I am looking for a 5-disk CD changer to go along with my Universial Player and was wondering if anyone had either of these players and what are your thought on it?

They are both about the same price although I found a refurbished Marantz that is going for $130 - hard to go wrong at that price.

I have the Marantz, although I bought mine new at my dealer for $250. Didn't want to take a chance on the refurbished units.

I bought the changer to replace my older Marantz CC-38 changer. I wanted to send a digital signal into my receiver's DACs and the CC-38 did not have a digital out.

I really like the 4300, it sounds wonderful, looks good, and functions very nicely. However, I do miss the changer mechanism that the older Marantz CD changers used to use. It was so much faster and quieter, you could hardly tell it was changing discs. The 4300, although pretty fast changing discs, is slightly louder and slower to start play. Don't let that fool you, though, it's still a very nice changer. It does offer 4 disc exchange while playing the 5th, something the CC-38 didn't have - you could only change 3.

Overall, I really like this changer. It's a great deal for the money.

I'm a Marantz fan, but I have not been impressed with their CD players. I had a CC-4000 and while I liked everything about it, it was actually in the sound quality department that I felt that guy lacked. It died on me about 4 months after I bought it, taking one of my CDs with it.... The shop didn't have any more of them, so they swapped it for the Sony 70ES that is now in my bedroom. I haven't heard the 4300 yet though, so I can't comment specifically about it.

I have the Denon DCM-380 and it sounds fine through the digital output. However, I have stared having difficulties with it not reading all discs lately. It also changes very slow and is very loud in doing so as well. I will not buy Denon when I replace it.
