Where to put my speakers?

I added a 150" screen and projector to my family room. It's two levels with a library above and relatively light so building this like a home theater is a challenge. I just added a Yamaha 2070 receiver and am trying to figure out what speaker placement plan I should go with. Should I go for Yamaha presence or Atmos? Another? It seems they each have different placement plans. What's my best shot? Is there something that kinda works and it can be calibrated to work with whatever sound track is playing? Do I just go something in the middle and once calibrated it works in any encoding?

Dang, a 150" screen in the family room. What are the dimensions of the room to give me a better idea of what we are working with? Seems Atmos is more popular but if you can go with whatever you please. If you have freedom of speaker placement, and calibrating via microphone or the likes, you'll be good to go.
