Ok i am buying the Yamaha RX-V1700 and was wondering which place i should buy from? Yes i know it is unauthorized dealer and i am being cheap by trying to save some money going this route. So with that said from past experiences from either company who should i go with?

I think they are both good deals but maybe you guys know if one place is better then the other for ordering.

Butterfly photo doesn't look like such a good place, didn't check the other sites.

go to the mfg website and look for AUTHORIZED resellers
I've had really good luck with Crutchfield, and others have had similar luck with onecall

I'm looking to buy a RX-v2600 and have seen prices from $800-$1000. I had the same question. I'm worried I'll get stuck without a warranty.

If you're are dead set on going the internet route, check out the HTR-6090 from Yamaha. It's basically the same as the 1700 but made for internet and big box stores. The important thing is it is possible to find one on the internet with a warranty.

Good price from Electrified, but how good is the "Repairtech" extended warranty?

You're not going to like my advice, but here it is anyway...

I personally would never buy a refurbished piece of electronics. You are opening yourself up to a fair amount of risk. It it breaks down, the money you saved by buying refurbished would easily be lost in repairs or replacement.

Buy new from an authorized dealer. If something goes wrong under warranty, the retailer and/or the manufacturer are the ones at risk, not you.

If you can't afford the receiver you want as a new item, buy something less expensive or wait until you can afford it. Sort of a "save now, play later" strategy.

Refurbished sounds like a good idea b/c of the money you might save, but in the long-run I suggest that you will not come out ahead.
