Where to buy components/speakers/drivers

So I'm relatively new to this world. But I've decided I want to get in to it more. I'm pretty competent with my carpentry and like building things, so I want to buy some speaker components and build my own cabinet.

I've read a lot on this and have (I think) a pretty good handle on how to do it. But now I have questions, the "where" and the "what".

Where should I go to buy parts? Really I need online places that will ship to me since I don't live super close to anything. Where can I go that will give me the best place to find drivers (tweeters, mid-ranges, etc) that I can use? Is there kind of a standard audiophile-type store that people go to, or a set of stores/websites I should look at?

The what is less pressing for me. I would like to build something nice, but for my first time building a speaker it doesn't need to be amazing. But I figure I should ask. Does anyone have any suggestions on what brand of speaker to buy. Budget range for the speaker parts (not including the cabinet material) is ideally around $200-$300 for two speakers. Later on I think I'd like to build something a bit nicer, but starting with that would be good.

Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

To name a few:

www.parts-express.com
www.madisound.com

I would start with a kit. The tritrix kit at parts-express might be a good place to start. I personally haven't heard the tritrix's before, but they have gotten pretty good reviews. It was at the top of my list when I was considering DIY.
