We bought a ranch up in Red Bluff Ca. which is about 20 min south of Redding and an hour or so north of Sacramento. The price was absolutely right (you wouldn't believe it :D ) and the property is great. It is 9.6 acres in a hilly area just outside of town. The house is relatively old and nobody has lived in it in 2 years, so it needs a lot of maintenance, but it is all work that we can more or less do ourselves. The well has a ton of pressure and the water tastes so good that it is a shame to take a shower with it. Going to need to get a riding mower and an ATV or two :D

Haha, it IS like an old western movie out there. Lots of cowboy boots and 10 gal hats in the area :) We are close enough to the town of Red Bluff that it isn't too far for groceries and all, yet far enough that we aren't in town :D The town is around 14K people, so pretty small for Ca. Redding is only about 20 min away and is big enough for our "city" needs. We are currently still living in San Jose for now, and once we take care of any work on this place, we will eventually move up there completely. There are a lot of great nature activity areas near by, which was one of the reasons why I wanted to be in this area. Shasta lake, Lassen Park, Sacramento river runs through town, etc... I love it there.

Dood, that's awesome. But it looks like your gazebo blew over. :)

I really like that property. Very nice indeed. Nice pics too, what are you shooting with?

Good luck keeping your car clean. :D

Gonna be hot up there. Congrats John. What are you going to do for work up there?
Also gotta worry about the quakes. My geology prof showed us the historical earthquake map of northern Cali. :)

Still working here for now and my company has an office in Sacramento, so I may still be able to work for them. That office is currently pretty slim, so I don't know if that will work or not, I haven't talked to them about it yet. Unemployment is high that far north, but I've got enough background that I am sure I can find work up there. I have two uncles who live up there as well, and one said the schools in the area are looking for teachers in technical fields, and that is basically what I do now (CAD Software) For what our mortgage is up there, I could work at Home Depot and afford it :) I will probably sell my car or garage it and get a truck/SUV for up here. We were up there for 7 days and it was between 95 and 99 every day, ("Yeah, but it's a DRY heat") but it is dry and there isn't much concrete/asphalt, so it doesn't feel as hot up there.

Earthquakes won't be any different for us up here than they were in the Bay Area; living right in between 2 major faults here. Lassen Peak is about 30 mi away and is volcanic though

Shots were taken with an older Canon S400, manual settings.

Something like that :) I was thinking something more along the lines of a medium quad or like a Honda Rancher. There's a Husky dealer in town too :D

Nice place. Lots of land to wrap your guns and bury them in the yard for future emergencies. I like it.

Bury them? What for? People actually respect one another around here :D Gun safe will be sufficient, and the shed....the garage already has a rack :)

I am a lot closer to RMK now, but I think his gear is a lot nicer so we should still have it at his place :D
