Where do you guys buy high resolution music?

I've been getting it from HD Tracks (www.hdtracks.com) and sometimes the label (I.e. like Trent Reznor & Attics Ross's stuff, some electronic music).

I listen to lots of different styles: acoustic, reggae, dub, rock, classical, some rap, electronic, vocal, blues, jazz. So, kinda not a 'style' I stick too. More off of mood.

HD Tracks is a good source.

SACDs are high resolution. However I think the best sound comes from BD. To me it beats SACD. I think it is because it is PCM ased and the delays etc are all active. In addition, SACD is not handy at all in production and that is probably its biggest downfall. BD being PCM based allows the engineers to engage everything they need to make a first class production, SACD does not.

I have some wonderful BD discs now both orchestral and of course opera. and they are absolutely superb. In my view BD is sonically the best medium to date, by a long shot, in my view.

Don't discount well recorded and engineered CDs. They can and do sound very good.

The LP though capable of good quality, does not best any of the media listed above, and a high number of pressings are much worse than the above. Only the very best LP pressings, can come close to CD quality. Sorry 3db but those are the facts. And yes, I still spin vinyl and continue to enjoy my large LP collection.

I never said anything about besting... I just said high resolution. ;)

Looks like HD Tracks is the winner. hehe.

I really feel like the weak link in my system now is the material, especially my desk system that is nearfield.

Weird you say that, I always preferred BD over SACD as well.

Yeah, some of the vinyl cut lately is ****. You can still get good stuff if you look, but you have to watch out they aren't just using the CD master and/or just cheap *** plates.

.
A good nearfield desktop system is great for critical listening. You can listen to it while you work; I know I enjoy the heck out of mine, :D

Yeah, I've gotten every penny out of my desktop system. I kept thinking I was spending too much, but, if you look at playback hours, my desktop is by far the most used. Listen while working, playing, and most of all: content at my fingertips, from hd music to redbook flack to Spotify. And yeah, even a movie in the background sometimes lol (but thats mostly reserved for the big system).

Your setup looks really interesting!
