Where did I go wrong?

I have an Axiom M22/VP100/QS8/HSU VT3 set up with a Yamaha HTR-5280 AVR. I had switched to a Denon AVR-1083, putting the Yamaha in mothballs, but the Denon just didn't seem to do it for me, so I switched back to the Yamaha. I thought the Yammie made my speakers sound better. Somehow, I still feel like I made a wrong turn somewhere. I'm not completely satisfied with either situation. Any ideas??

What exactly is the issue? Have you properly setup and calibrated the 3803? This can make a BIG difference.
