When to use the 4ohm switch

If the AVR has a 4ohm switch and you get 4ohm rated speakers should you flip the switch?

Nope, and there are articles here for just that switch.

Only use it if you want to reduce your amplifier output. The switch is there so the manufacturer can get the receiver passed. In testing the amplifier is left on for a while and with a 4 ohm load the amp will shut down because it will over heat. However using your receiver for movies or music it will never get that hot.
