When is the Yamaha RX-A2000 going back on sale?

It's time to upgrade my receiver, as my Denon won't pass through 3D from the PS3 to my VT30. Plus I need more HDMI inputs and as my Blu-Ray collection grows, it'll be nice to have more sound processing capabilities (not to mention I plan on upgrading to an Oppo BR player soon and new speakers next year).

I was going to try to hop on a AVR-3311CI, but the sales are just not there. On top of that, it seems Yamaha hit a home run with the new Aventage series.

Anyone know when the RX-A2000 is going back on sale? The A1000 is $630 shipped on a few sites, while the A2000 is sitting at $1400 still!

If you dont mind me asking, where do you live? I have an acct with a wholesaler in So California that has the RX-A2000 on sale for $1150 & the RX-A3000 for $1450. I would be happy to help you out if you happen to live nearby or wanted to do some sort of safe PayPal transaction. No pressure just thought id throw that out at ya!!
I have the 2000 & LOVE IT!!! Good choice IMHO.

BTW i went from a Denon 889 (similar to your 887) & what a difference in quality, power & functionality. Lot of great AVRs out there these days, good time to be in the market for a new addition.

I haven't yet, but I want to so bad! I am still looking at do I really need it above the A1000. I won't need 9.2 ANYTIME soon. Just trying to decide if I need the extra 25w a channel.

I'm guessing that the extra power won't matter all that much, but the "Reflected Sound Control" on YPAO caught my attention (on the 2000 but not the 1000). I looked around but didn't do enough research to find out what that actually is, but if it's like a feature on my Pioneer, it's good stuff. I think that it adds the ability to account for reflections in your room into the calibration settings.

I am going to hold out for a month or two and see how the prices go. My guess is that by the end of September or so the A2000 will hit $800 or $750 and the A1000 $550 or so.

Hey Crackerballer: I own the Axiom M-60's and the VP-150 and am using a Yamaha 1900(Yes finally replaced my Pioneer Elite 56txi at the end of June/11). I strongly recommend that you step up to the 60's as they are a 3-way design and sound much more open,detailed,bigger sound stage than the 50's. In fact I went up to the factory here in Ontario and was shocked at the difference(not that the 50's are crap they are not!!!) just the 60's are worth the extra $$$$IMO.

Going from 105W to 130W really makes no difference

The only time I have noticed a difference from 100 to 130 (RX-V1900) is on Bluray Movies and HD audio, special effects. I have noticed I do not max out the AVR as much. 2 channel stereo not much difference to hit 85 DB with my speakes.

Yea I actually was planning on the M60s, but the M50 would be the SMALLEST front speaker I would upgrade to. The reason I want the extra 25ws is that eventually my VT30 and the full surround system will be moving into a MUCH larger room and I'd like to be able to use the receiver for a little while before I have to upgrade to an external amp.

Everything else being equal, 130W isn't going to add much versus 105W. It's been mentioned, but to quantify it - consider how power is related to sound. The difference in dBs from one power to another is given by:

Delta_dB = 10 * log10(Power1 / Power2)

So, 130W is about 1 dB louder than 105W. That isn't very much.

That said, everything else might not be equal with those amps - such as the capacitors. Better caps would give you better dynamics (right?).

I was thinking. Yes you are right about how much louder and how much More power to push it past a desired level will suprise you. I am no engineer
but I can tell that the 130 WPC has more reserve. SPL meter I use so I keep
the DB from hurting us more then just old AGE has done and more +#s remaining on the remote AVR runs cooler during a Bluray at 85/105 peak Db special effects with the extra 30 WPC AVR....like you said better caps???
Blurays need a lot more power then my CD player or R2R. Just saying from installing fans on my AVR after the Onkyo 805 heat issues. On stereo and very low volume AVR does not need the fans to be on. Jam two Blurays back to back better have the fans ON if you want a AVR to last being on 14 hours a day everyday.I just Retired, when wife goes to work TV or music in on. It's been over 100 for almost 40 days row. I will buy the AVR with more WPC all things being even just so it runs cooler from Not turning it up as much for long periods of time.

I think most of that can be handled via proper spacing. My entertainment center does NOT have good spacing/head room, so it worries me. I may switch up pretty soon.

My AVR sets on the lower shelf with 6" of open air space above it and 2 1/2"

on each side. I purchased two 6" plastic fans with the spring clamps on the end and cut open the back of my cabinet and have the fans blowing across the top of the AVR(from the rear) and have plugged into back of AVR. If AVR is on fan is on. I have a second fan and moved it to blow behind the Revox R2R that sets on top of cabinet. It is a mess of wires behind the cabinet/fatt screen stand. DVD, Bluray and CD players, R2R and Verizon Fios 2 subs and 5 pairs of speaker wires.Wii and Yamaha Ipod docking station........gives me a head ache.

I was talking about extra "Head Room" in the amp sections...reserve of power not being used when watching Blurays.
