Hey guys,

Not sure if anyone's ever posed this question, but at what point do you guys sit back and say, "I'm 100% satisfied with my system"?

Maybe you never are, but for instance, I put together a system pretty quick and with each big part, I was greatly impressed. First was the receiver with the 3.0 setup, then added the surrounds, then added the subwoofer. Now that it's all running, I'm like, welllll another subwoofer would be kind of cool.. but how do you stop?! Haha. I mean I don't need another subwoofer (my SO doesn't think so), but it's definitely in the back of my mind. Ahh the madness!

Other than that, I'm definitely happy with the whole setup. I must say though, I really enjoyed piecing it all together and setting it up, fun stuff..

There was a point when I was like ahh, im happy. But now its like ehh im happy, but I could get a new receiver, some more satellite speakers for 7.1, a blu-ray player with analog outs, a turntable, wall treatments, a new sub, all new speakers, etc. lol.

I've been happy with my system for years. That didn't stop me from buying new gear :)

Oh yeah, that's the same way with me.. I guess it's the hobby that keeps growing, even if it's a rather expensive one at times.

I running 5.0 system with full-range front - Do I miss having sub, surely I do, but being in apartment holds me off... (for now).
Honestly I doubt even this guy is permanently happy with his current setup.

I don't think there is such thing as FINAL home audio setup

for me it's been a thing of going along learning and figuring out whats good and what's not, i will probably stop buying parts for my system when and if i ever get a pair of those ginormous Klispsch towers (the ones on their site for like 24,000) which i will never be able to afford. i started out with a "hand me down" system, i was given a set of bookshelf made by a manufacturer that seems to have disappeared off the earth without a trace (they sound damn good though). 5 KEF satellites, and a KEF sub which ended up burning out. the KEF speakers have amazing sound, but there is an issue with small satellite to huge subwoofer systems, the subwoofer is bound to drown out the mid-range no matter what you do (talking about satellites with 3" woofers) ive never been a fan of them and will not buy speakers with drivers smaller then 5" (as the main woofer) for this reason. and well considering the fact that the sub was blown out the satellites weren't any good by themselves and i did not have the money to buy a new sub, so i used the bookshelf's for a bit and just had a 2 channel system. well one day i decided to buy some bookshelf's with larger drivers for better bass response, a pair of KLH B-PRO6's they weren't the greatest thing in the world but they did pack a punch for the price. so i used those along with the other bookshelf's as surrounds in a 4 channel setup (i don't watch movies so a center channel is not a requirement). i recently bought a pair of Sony floorstanding speakers which sound pretty good and am using the KLH's as surrounds. i am planning on buying two more sets of the floorstander's and making a complete system of 7 speakers with the large floorstanders and a center channel of the same product line which would be good considering i use my system for music only. i would say once i do this ill stop, for awhile. eventually i will want to upgrade to finer quality speakers at some point, or maybe add a sub.

I think I gotta just watch some more BD's and just enjoy it for the time being.. but then again, when I could be enjoying it with an extra sub... ha!

I didn't change much in my system for a few years until I got the PS3 and started watching Blu-ray and that pretty much drove my recent purcahses of a player that decoded the new formats and a 1080p TV. The amps were just because I wanted them :D

I am very happy with my system. What's not to like?:D

But separates would be nice. So would a new 1080p projector. And I'd love to build one of those 21" subs. Our 15" 1000 wpc sub is ok, but.... Then the bedroom system wouldn't be as nice, so then I'd need to upgrade there too. Oh, and my billiard room has an old receiver, that could be upgraded too. What about those old DIY speakers in there? The speakers in the bathrooms are getting old too. Maybe I could use the speakers from the bedroom in there. Oh and my daughter's room only has two channel. She'll need at least 5.1 in there. Think she'll mind getting our old 720p projector instead of a new plasma? Speaking of projectors, we could use a new screen. 106" seems so small now............

Uhm... My guess is that there is no end. Good luck with that. Your best bet is to lose this website. Go now and never look back. It's too late for most of us, but you're still young. You still have a chance.

Lol I kind of thought about that, but I can't look away!! I think as I continue to browse this site, and read about new products and whatever else, yeah I'll always wonder. But it's what I'm really interested in, so I suppose I could be interested in worse things..

Unless I win a lottery or something then about the only change I see coming for my family room is a bigger TV than my 52" (60+ inch), but that will be 4-5 years away. I'm happy with my family room speakers, have all the subwoofer that I need, and my receiver is pumping out all of the power that my home's wiring can handle. Adding another circuit just isn't practical. Maybe an all-in-one BD/DVD-A/SACD player someday.

I may replace the surrounds in my bedroom with some bipolar speakers someday but it's a really low priority. About the only thing I have planned in there for now is a WDTV Live media player.

I just bought 2 additional pairs of B2030Ps for my home-office to bring me up to a 5.1 system and a spare. I've modded 3 of my Behringers so far using a variation of WmAx's suggestions and have plenty of subwoofer for a 12x12x9 room. As soon as I mod and hang the other two I'm done in that room.

I keep rereading the Audioholics review of RBH's 8300-SE/R and if I ever win the lotto or something I might look at some high buck speakers. But I think you probably have to play in order to win. ;) For now I'm just about all done.

When I first spent $500 on a pair of speakers I thought I would have them for decades if not longer. They lasted less than a year. Amps....didn't need one. Well, now I own three. I've reached the point where I am at the limits of what I'm willing to spend and it takes a lot of cash for a small upgrade in performance. My music is on a minimum of three hours a day, so if I calculate the price per hour, it actually seems reasonable....ok, I'm rationalizing. I make sacrifices elsewhere to be able to put money into something I truely enjoy.

The only thing I've bought in the last year and a half is a small subwoofer for the bedroom system. It's not that I'm not still looking. It's just that I'm max overkilled for my house and my room. I'm already starting some structural modifications to the house to build a proper room. If I work it out right, I might also be able to fit in a nice little two channel room too.

It's an addiction, there is no end

Friends and family don't want the equipment quest to stop...I've collected so much stuff over the years that I have 4 different two channel setups scattered around the house, in addition to equipping parents, sis/broinlaw, and several friends. I don't think I've paid full retail for anything over the years, and I've kept to mainly mid-fi type stuff (amps: NAD, Adcom, Emotiva, Crown, Yamaha; speakers/subs: Miller & Kreissel, Def Tech, Klipsch, Mission, hot-rodded Onyx; a multitude of cd/dvd players sonyES, Yamaha, Tascam). Despite the seemingly endless flow of gear, it hasn't really been terribly expensive.

I figure as long as you're having fun and you have disposable funds available, there is no end to this hobby. And speaking of fun, one of my systems is a SET amp/high efficiency speaker, minimalistic setup, which may not be hi-fi according to some uptight slide-rule objectivists geeks that frequent this site, but it sure is fun to listen to! This system is the most engaging, the easiest to get completely lost in the music with. If I had to settle on one particular system and forego the others, this is the one I would choose, hands down, and I would be quite satisfied. To say the image is three dimensional is to do it a disservice; it's huge and engrossing, like 1080p for your ears. This system is flat out fun. In fact, this system gets far more milage than any of the others right now, so maybe this is the spot where 'enough' has finally occurred for me.

Just one more upgrade  :D A sub capable of low 20Hz extension. Other than that ..oh wait .... a 60" plasma because I do need a larger set to help offset balance of seating position required for 2 channel and HT

After getting many years out of my Cinepro 3k6 (350 x 6 8ohms) which I purchased in 98 for 3.5k I have been itching to get the new 4K6SE Gold. You know the old saying "where there is a will there is a way" I just cant find the way right now, and the Oppo-83 which I think is a must have for every HT. After that I'll be happy for a while. Speakers I am good with for now.

Seriously, I have no life.
