Just trying to figure out why I get several reviews and no answers? Not trying to whine or complain, just trying to see if I am doing something wrong.
Thanks a lot!

I might be missing something and for that I apologize. But what can we help you with? I checked your other posts and I believe they had to do with a Yamaha remote control problem.

Thanks for the reply.....

Please read below....
I have a YHT-18 Home Theater set w/ SW-201 Sub, NS-AP 280 speakers and a HTR-5440 amp/tuner/receiver. I have had it for about 5 years and it may be time to change, but if it ain't broke, don'e fix it! Ths system works great after a few adjustments and fine tuning
I can not figure this out....the remote will not work on any piece of equipment. Here's the kicker, it will not even let me reset the factory settings on any A/V piece. I hit the select button, hold the up/down volume buttons and it will blink twice like the book says and then when I eneter ANY code it will blink twice again as if it is accepting the code and it will not work, regardless if it is an actual option or not. I have even tried to reset each piece of equipment back to either "9990" or "0000" and it acts as if it taking to code, but then nothing works
NEXT......When it try to reset the remote back to factory setting on the amp/tuner, as soon as I select it, hold down the up/down volume buttons it blinks 6 times and will not accept any codes for the amp/tuner. It acts like it does not recognize anything I am trying to do.
Is there a master reset of that tuner? I can't find it and there is nothing in the book that would lead me to believe there is either.
I need the remote to set up my output to my rear channel speakers after a recent move, I have quite a bit of background hiss on my rear speakers and they need adjusted to limit that as much as possible.
Sorry for the rather long thread, but this is driving me crazy! Thanks for the help!

Yamaha Remte Problem

OK, so it's the same problem.

I checked the Yamaha web site for tech support. If your receiver has "Memory Guard" it will not allow you to change settings because they are locked. Here's what they say to do:

"The Memory Guard system found in our receiver's "locks", or prevents alterations of certain settings found within the set-menu system, as well as some DSP parameters. This prevents accidental changes from being made to your system. If you have enabled the Memory Guard, and now wish to disable it, please perform the following simple procedure while attempting to change a set-menu option or DSP parameter, the display will read "Memory Guard On". Within 5 seconds, press the "-" button on the remote control or front panel (if available). This will disable the Memory Guard feature. To re-enable it, access the set-menu system and turn it back on."

Here's the remote codes also in case you need them:

so, reciever works, but remote does not?

if that is the case, you may just want to contact Yamaha and ask them to send you a new remote.

Thank-you very much!

Thanks again for the info, but my display does not read "Memory Guard On" making that process impossible to perform.
Any ideas why the remote blinks 6 times when I selct the "amp" on the remote and try to perform any function on the amp?

Are you sure the remote is not in a "learn" mode? I know you tried to program the remote, but it may be stuck in that mode. I have a Yamaha DSP-A3090 and the remote itself had different settings. If it was in "learn" none of the components worked - it just blinked a lot.

Might try taking the batteries out for an extended periods (say a day or so) to see if you can "reset" it.

Good luck.
