I have decided on getting these speakers.
Amazon.com: Sony SS-F6000 Floorstanding 4-Way Speakers (Pair, Black): Electronics

They seem to be super powerful for the $119.97 price tag.
i'm on a super limited budget, which is why i have decided on these.

the only problem is, i need a receiver/amp for them.

The amp needs to be able to give out 180-Watt at least.

I don't need any fancy hookups for the amp. I am wanting to hook it via usb if i could to my pc, or the normal audio jack.

Does anyone know of a very simple amp that i can hook to my computer to power these speakers? When i say simple i mean it doesnt have to have all the fancy features and equalizers, and multiple inputs because i can pretty much do all that on my computer.

thanks.

You do not need 180 watts. Ignore the power specifications on the speakers. Those speakers are easy to drive and really it's unlikely they could effectively use more than 100 watts per channel.

I think the Sherwood RX-4109 would fit the bill. You can pick one up relatively cheap online and for $99 at your local Radioshack.

according to the SOny store, thery have the following specs:

Speaker

* Frequency Response : 40 - 50,000 Hz
* Impedance : 8 Ohms
* Mid Range Size(s) : 3 ¼ " (8 cm)
* Power Requirements : 180W
* Quantity (Packaged) : 2
* Quantity of Tweeters : 1
* Quantity of Woofer(s) : 2
* Sensitivity : 89 dB
* Speaker Terminal Type : Binding Post
* Tweeter Size : 1" (2.5 cm)
* Woofer Size(s) : 6 1/2" (16cm) x 2

According to their specs, they have an in room senstivity of 89db and a nominal impedance around 8ohms. Based on the driver configuration, I would drop that to around 6 ohms nominal or average. Anything lower mid level from Yamaha, Denon, Marantz, etc will easily drive these speakers very loud without danger of over driving the receiver's amps into clipping.

A receiver that actually delivers 180W to pair up with $120 speakers? LOL. You'd be looking at a few grand for a receiver like that.

Passive speakers are not "powerful", since they have no power. For a stereo only setup, I'd be looking at a stereo receiver or integrated amplifier. Take a look at the offerings from Onkyo and Harman Kardon, possibly Denon and Marantz.
