What's next after Rat Shack?

Many of us have a Rat Shack SPL and some type calibration disc...so, what's next? If I wanted to go up to the next level of system calibration, what would I purchase, how much would it cost, how user friendly is it, and how much of an improvement in the calibration of my system would I experience?

Discuss.

I'd say an RTA and EQ

RTA = ~$500 for a good one. Depends on if you can find one used or if you know someone with one.

EQ = $ couldn't tell ya. For a good two channel one would be ~$ 200

Check out the RT-60 system. Its a bit pricey at 1000 for. But you get an I PAQ which you could use for alot of other things. You might be able to get the software and mic seperatley. http://www.ivie.com/

I just helped my technician EQ 20 cinema auditoriums with this system and the sound was damn good.

What about an ISF calibration?? You could have a certified ISF tech come to your house and calibrate the audio and video. In my area they start around $300 and go up from there depending on the services that you need. You can check out the availability of ISF techs at their site, http://www.imagingscience.com/
