I have a system consists of:

Yamaha RXV-650
Sony DVD NS-305
Wharfedale Diamond8.4 fronts
Wharfedale Diamond8center

i want to buy surround speakers so i want to know what do u think,

it will be very difficult to attach the speakers to the wall, but what do u think gonna give me better results??

1-Get the Diamond8.3 (80cm tall) & place them on a 37Cm stand(which i already have) the cost will be=110UK pounds

2-Get the Diamond8.1(29cm tall) & place them on a stand (122cm tall) the cost=100UK pounds.

am choosing between those options coz i don't have the abaility to attach them to the wall & i heared from alot of people that the surrounds should be above ear level by a good hight to really experince surround?!!!

I only want Wharfedale Diamond8 speakers to complete the family of the speakers.

Unless you listen to lots of multi-channel music, the 8.1s should be fine. I'm wondering why you can't mount them higher up on a shelf?

I need the speakers that will give me the best performance as rear speakers in movies as i don't care much about multichannel music, while the difference in money between the 8.1 with stands or the 8.3 without buying standes is nothing, some people say get he 8.3 better & others say get the 8.1 coz floorstanders are bad as rears?????
am really confuesed now??

match the fronts if possible

I think the surround world is changing to expect the same speakers front and back. For DVD-A/SACD I see a lot of recomendations to this effect. I have small surrounds and just hooked up an SACD/DVD-A player. I now see why they recomend full size rear speakers. Some disks use the rears as if they were as important as the fronts. I think they are not treating them as just 'effect' speakers anymore. If you have the space I see no reason not to use full sized surrounds.
