i am thinking about getting a 3 channel amp for my receiver in the future. what would be a good amp considering the difference in sound between receivers and amps? any suggestions would be helpful. thanks

I was looking at a rotel amp (can't remember the model no.) but it was a 6 channel amp that could be biamped into a 3 channel amp providing more then enough power to drive anything (within reason).

Also the 5 channel amp by Rotel reviewed on this site is another choice if you are maybe thinking about the idea of powering all 5 channels.....

But seriously, Rotel in my opinion, make the best amps for the money you can buy.

Outlaw.com has some 200 w amps that are single-channel, so you only buy as many as you need. a stack of 3 runs about $ 850.

Yep, I agree with this too. Marky, this is the way to go considering you are getting a darn good mono amps for a darn good price... still works out cheaper than the other choices. Just get 2 of them for a start and give the front main speakers the juice they need from them... can always buy more if you need, but v2400 has enough power to handle the rest if you isolate the front 2 main speakers. A whole bunch of other threads in other forums give the same advice too. Good luck! ;)

Why do you think you need an outboard amp to the Yam? Just curious. ;)

i might get some floorstanding speakers. i think it needs the extra head room for clean sound. what im concern with is what the 2400 will mate well with. do warm and bright mix? i was thinking if your receiver is warm then buying a warm amp would be the logical choice. outlaw seems to be good amps.
