between Denon 4306 or the yamaha RX-V2700 , I am interested because I am looking to upgrade but this is a tough choice, I have the danon 2807 and I really like it, but the RX-v2700 is $400 cheaper, to me actually it's a difference between $200.00 the denon costing me $200.00 than the yamaha. what do you say.

I would go with the AVR-4306 just because I've read that the Yamaha's are a tad on the bright side. I cannot confirm this as I do not have a Yamaha, I have a Denon AVR-3806. Honestly though, both are very good receivers and I think you'd be happy with either.

When you're ready to unload that 2807, let me know. :D

As for the choice, that's kind of a toss up (in my mind anyway). Both are going to be excellent receivers that will serve you well now as well as in the future. I'd suggest spending a little time with each at your dealer, just messing with them, and seeing which one (if either) jumps out at you more. Spec-wise, they're both pretty robust.

why do you want to upgrage?

What makes you feel the irrestible urge to spend money when you're happy now? Is there something these offer that you need that you don't have? If so, what it it?

I need to buy a receiver for my bedroom, so I was thinking on moving my denon 2807 to my bedroom and buying either one of these for my living room. that's all. not really sure that I need more than the 2807, but to be honest, I am able to get the 4306, for about $600 more than the 2807.

your system is nice

Choose the yamaha, more bang for the buck. Im kind of speaking out of my ***, I have really dont know which is better but I remeber trying to make a choice between the two receivers and was told to get the yamaha. Post mortem, I feel I made the right choice. :) Not trying to jack your thread but i have a question for ya.

Do you like that pioneer?

I have the pdp 5070 and love the picture, best picture I have ever seen in a plasma, except maybe the fujitsu. Only problem with it is those damn pink lines that pop up sometimes. Do you know what Im talking about? I dont know if this is a problem with all pioneers or just mine. Here is the thread i started check it out.

I like Yammy. They have great sound, easy to use, and cost less. But that is just me. I have had the 3805 and switched to yammy, and have never looked back.

Receivers

The new Yamaha RX-V2700 is supposed to have a good video upscalling chip, but I haven't seen any reveiws yet. The Denon probably has a little better EQ with the Audessy system. Based on the cost difference and potentially better video performance, I would go for the Yamaha, but I think you will be happy with either one.

I do indeed like my pioneer elite, I am thinking of getting a second one, as far as the receivers, I am not sure, I am thorn apart, I like how my denon 2807 sounds, so I am leaning towards the 4306.

thank you for your feedback, does the yamaha allow me to syncronize an internet radio station of my choice? also does the yamaha allow me to hook up one HDMI cable to my TV and hook everything up to the receiver? also upscaling anything else I have?

I have a Yamaha in my spare room and currently have 2 Denons - a 3805 and 4306. I'll honestly say, IMHO, it's a toss-up as far a sound quality is concerned. I like the Yamaha's DSP effects better than the Denons, but quite frankly, I don't use either one very much. What I really like is the Audyssey feature in the 4306. Makes my whole room a "sweet spot". I don't know if it's worth the extra money to you, but between the internet radio, Audyssey, and the power, I like my 4306 the best. Only you can decide if the money difference is worth it to you.;)

Not much to choose between the two ,but my dealer alkways use to tell me that Yamaha score the highest for movies where as Denon are more of an alrounder doing better in the music department.

Receiver Upgrade?

Skasol,
Your current receiver is no slouch and is not exactly outdated. What do you find lacking? If you want more power, an outboard amp might be a better investment. Otherwise, speakers or room acoustics might be good upgrades.

No matter which you pick, you should be happy with the quality of the product. I've heard numerous people say the Denons are a bit warmer (or the Yamahas a bit brighter;) ), , but at this level I'd say you'll find a greater difference in the sound coming from the room acoustics than from any electronics. I'd say your decision is more one of which options you prefer: if you like the Audessey better than the numerous DSP modes than get the Denon (or vice versa). If the $200 difference is a deal-breaker, then get the Yamaha...once you get home you'll be more than happy with either reccy.

Bryan...myself, I like the Audessey and don't like DSP modes...

thank you all for the feedback, I am not replacing my denon, I am looking to buy one for my bedroom, I currently thought of buying the cheap yamaha HTR5950, but I am not sure if I want to go that route, the room is not that big and will be powering the Def tech pro800.

Yamaha receivers

Go with the Yamaha HTR-5960 as a minimum for the bedroom system. I have last year's version and would recommend it. Also look for good deals on the RX-V2600 and 1600 models which will give you more power and HDMI features.
A $2k receiver would be overkill for a bedroom system with satellite speakers.

thank you, what I was planning to do was to move my denon 2807 to my bedroom and place the new one with my receiver, I have the mythos II and III with the Elite in my livingroom and the 43 elite in the bedroom with the pro800.

Rx-v2700

I'm new to this forum and I too am interested in the RX-V2700 and would like some input on whom to buy from, i.e. Yamaha will not honor the warranty if purchased from someone that is not an authorized dealer. The difference between the dealers and everone else is up to $400.00. I don't know what the general feeling is on this web site, but I would like to get some input.

Thanks
