Well i move into my new apartment in 2 weeks. now ive been thinking of the layout, im curious if it matters what wall you place everything against? im running 2.2 setup. I can either have them against the outside wall firing into the middle of the apartment, or have everything on a middle wall, firing towards the outside wall.

Pics would help here, but IMO I would point the speakers towards your listening position... With a 2.2 system I like the subs close to the speakers... I love 2.2 stereo systems, my absolute favorite way to listen to music, any pics, it sounds like a really nice system...

no pics sorry (of the new apartment). The way i set it up is t.v in middle of wall, with subs beside tv stand on either side, then bookshelf's beside. so all of my equipment stays on 1 wall. also imcloud you have helped me in the past, you might have seen my previous setup! Ive been itching to move. my stuff has been in storage for about 6 weeks. All i get to use is my pc setup and watch movies on my 11" macbook air lol. The 50" will feel like a projector screen when i get everything all hooked up LOL

yes I know how you feel a couple winters ago I was working 80-90 hours a week and the only tv I got to watch was the pc monitor in my office which was 20"s, and when ever I made it home I always spent time with the family so no tv, then when it slowed down and I finally got home, watching my tv took some getting used to, it seemed like a movie theater and was only 46"s LOL...

That sounds like a really nice system, simple and quality, what more could you ask for... If you are still undecided on placement when you get in there let the sun dictate the position of your tv, I set my bedroom all up with the tv on the largest wall, until we moved in and tried turning the tv on during the day, you couldn't see anything, even after shutting the blinds it was almost impossible to see when the sun was out... So we moved it since we went out of our way to get extra sun in the bedroom when building the house, my wife didnt want to buy black out blinds... its something to think about...

thanks for the tips! if i remember correctly there is no window in that room. I think i may position everything on the outside wall because if i want to listen to music then its firing into the same direction the kitchen and the rest of the apartment. So in return i guess i wouldn't have to turn it up as much. I just didnt know if having them on an inside wall would make for more vibrations to travel through the inside walls.

Thinking about it some more. i might actually sell my computer setup and see about hooking my macbook air up to my home theatre setup for music listening. Just not sure if i need to keep my xda-2 or not as my mrx does not have usb in.

I would never get rid of my xda2, the sound difference between that and my regular pre-amps is noticeable.... There are some really good options for streaming from your mac, others will know better, but I think this is going to be the most expanded upon feature in home entertainment in the next few years. I say within a couple years we will be able to just tap our phone, ipod, ipad, ect to the tv or avr we want to link it to and the material will play on that device using the source as a controller... They will call it something like the "hot spot" and it will be a little pad on your tv that you touch your smart phone to, or the corner of your laptop... then you will be able to just touch it to the controller of your tv a few months after that... a week after that you will just have to think about the song you want to hear or show you want to watch and your tv will play it automatically, lol...

hahaha. Yea id like to do an a/b comparison with the xda-2 and just straight on the mrx. I just ordered on monoprice a cable so i can hook my MBA to an HDMI cable so that would be good for streaming movies or what not. But if i keep my xda-2 id probably just run usb from my MBA to the xda-2 then to the mrx300. I think that might be my best option.
