I hooked up my Pioneer 1018 over the weekend, but it did not come w/ a FM antenna. What type of antenna (plug) is on the 1018? I have never seen that before. It almost looks like a mini rca jack.

I went to radio shack and I could find anything that looked like it would fit.

Thanks!

Hi. Did you buy the 1018 new? It is supposed to come with an FM wire antenna in the box. If it was new, you might want to check the box again.

The connector looks like an F-type coax connector to me. I'll look a bit more into this.

I use something like this and it works quite well. I have it mounted in my attic.

Just a quick question. Would I get good reception if I used the F plug to coaxial adapter then used spliter to plug into my local cable? Would it mess up anything w/ my TV?

It should work OK. It won't cost much for a splitter and the adaptor, give it a try.

That's exactly the right way to do it, and you'll have the best reception of course.

Isn't that only true if your cable system carries FM? I have Cablevison and they don't -- haven't for years.
I'm not particularly familiar with your area cable, but with mine, I use a splitter and I got the radio (connected with the 75ohm cable).

And if I want radio up the air, I'll use an aerial antenna, possibly external one mounted high on the roof, that's the best reception.

Note: Call your Cablevision and ask them.
