I have a little decision to make and would like some help with the purchase. I know ultimately the choice is mine, but still looking for input. I’m looking at getting the Onkyo Pa-MC5500 amplifier, Yamaha NS-B750 or the ED A5-325S.
Getting the Onkyo will give me more headroom for my current setup. My current 1007 says it gives out 135W per channel which we all know it does not. There have been test on the 5007/8 that are rated at 145W and been tested to show on the average about 75W per channel, so let’s say I get a 65W. I found a review where it shows that the PA-MC5500 puts out at 110W per channel. Giving me just about double of my current output.
Getting the A5-325S would give me the first true sub that I have ever owned. I currently own a Yamaha NS-SW700 and a Velodyne CHT-12. I was thinking of getting the A5-350, but that sub is too big for me to put anywhere in my small place. The ED sub is just like the A7S-650, just cut in half and has the 500W amp compared to the 1300W. The price is about $850 and with shipping to me will eat rest of my budget.
Getting the Yamaha NS-B750 for my surrounds will match rest of my gear replacing the current Polk RT15i’s I have. I know surrounds only fill in sound, so this may not be a big purchase.
