Well, I have had the Yammie 1400 for over a few months now, and am pleased so far, other than the need to upgrade my speakers. So I dont believe Im getting the full potential of my system as it stands now. However, Ive got the bug to buy the Denon 3805, and after my wife hitting upside the head after telling her this, I still want to get it. What to do with the yammie is the trick question? After all, Im building an entertainment room which should be done over the next year. Perhaps, I should wait to upgrade then.

Why don't you move the Yamaha into another room say a family room and buy the Denon for your home theater room. That's what I did.

Why do you want to buy the Denon? The Denon is a great receiver but it's not really much of an upgrade in terms of features and/or sound. The Yamaha RX-V1400 is a very good receiver and compares well to the 3805. Spend the money on new speakers. If you feel you need to upgrade them now, your still going to feel this way after you buy the 3805. The 3805 seems like more of a lateral step rather than a step forward. If you feel you are not getting the most our of your system, upgrade your speakers or maybe add an external amp. This would be a step forward and would give you instant improvement. If you want to wait on the speakers until your HT room is done, I would get an Amp. You will can use it with the Yamaha and any of your future receivers. Amps last a long time.

Anyway, just a few thoughts.

Shinerman.

Well, Im back from Beautiful Barstow, California where we have a major Highway project going on Rt. 15. Thanks for all the post guys, and yes I get antsy sometimes which is why I am going to sit tight for now.

Thanks, Ray as well, and I am going to call you very soon as I get closer to starting my new family room. I have to finish building my new garage first by the end of the summer.

Cheers and Beers,

Rex

This may not mean much, but I just read a review that picked Yamaha 2400 over the Denon 3805.It's a British magazine, may be "What Hi Fi " or "Home Cinema Essential".

Hey, It sounds good to me:) One thing Im missing is good speakers. Ive had these Infinity TS satellite speakers for 10 years now, so Im in need of an upgrade. I recently hooked up my passive sub and boy what a difference that made. Ive had my system offline for some time since I moved last summer and am now getting it back together. But Im buying some new goodies this year.

Definitive really compliments Yamaha, and so does B&W, but it might take a lil more time and choosing as B&W is a picky speaker, it either goes wonderfully with a piece of equipment or it doesn't, Definitive will give you alot of what B&W has and some more IMO.

Up-grade your speakers. I was using the Yamaha 1400 with some Polk RM3000's with a powered Sub. My brother was running a Yamaha 450 with Klipsch RF-35's and his system blew mine away. Needless to say I've since up-graded to the Klipsch.
