What to do with a Pioneer VSX-512S A/V Stereo Receiver

Hi, all- I'm new here. My father gave me his old Pioneer VSX-512S Audio/Video Stereo Receiver when I moved into my first apartment. Now that I'm married and moved into my next place, I really have no room for this equipment. My father is reluctant to take it back, too. Does anyone know how much this receiver (still works and looks great), still with the original box and with the remote control and instruction manual intact, is worth now? And a good place to sell it?

I also have some of his Utah and Realistic brand speakers and an MC.1 center channel speaker for surround-sound set-up. Are these worth anything?

Thanks so much,
Elizabeth

You may want to explore ebay if there are any up for sale there now and see what they are going for.
I doubt it will bring much or the speakers. May not worth all the hassle. donation time? Bedroom? Garage use? Sewing room?

Welcome to the forum!

I haven't found an owner's manual yet for the VSX-521, but I suggest that you try the remote codes from another Pioneer receiver (available online) to check if those work.

In case you're interested, I did find a free copy of the service manual for that receiver.

Question?

May I ask a question? Do you have a desktop PC or MAC set up in a "home office"? If so, that Pionner 512 receiver along with some decent mini speakers and a decent subwoofer would be a great sound source for the computer. Use the analogue out on the computer to any analogue input on the receiver and you have a great 2.1 channel sound system.
