Hi my name is Dashan and I'm looking for advice on a surround sound speaker set-up.On a small to medium budget depending on what I can sneak past the wife.I'm looking for towers up front and a good sub.My living room layouy is
15'w x 19'd x 8'h with the exeption that the back wall is open to the kitchen in a "U" shape but squared.I've been looking at the athena f2's,monitor audio bronze/or silver 6i if I found a real good deal used,psbt45-65,Been seeing some good deals on energy conissiour C-7's&C-9's.Couldn't find much reviews for these speakers on here.I know they're are older but can anyone tell me your opinion/experiance with them.
Now for the Sub.I've narrowed down my search between an HSU,PSB-6i and an svs.Since I live in Ohio I plan on going to svs for a listin or two,"only three hours away"to found out which one sounds better for the right price.
Currantly running a HarmonKardon AV630 with an out dated sony surround speaker system with an 8" sony sub "BOO."At the time I started with the H/K av630 for the base of my Home Theater project but,two kids later and an out of state move and marraige put plans to a holt!! any suggestions?

Quite honestly, in a properly set up HT system, the speakers will all be cut off at 80hz anyway. IMO, you'd be better off to invest in a better quality set of smaller speakers for the LCR for the same money.

Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with what you're looking at from a brand name perspective - I just hate to see people waste limited budget $$$$ on floorstanding speakers that they'll never fully use (cut off bottom end sent to subs) when a good monitor that'll do 50-60hz strong is all they really need.

Budget would be around $800.00 for LCR and $600.00 for sub.As to the next question, since I might not have money to buy both LCR and sub at the same
time,I was looking to buy LCR's first than a sub. That way I can also enjoy and
tune my system before the sub hits.Haven't had a chance to listen to any of the speaker systems mentioned do to new to the area.If anybody has a a/v gear shop of choice in my area please let me know.Fourt-five miles south of Columbus. My system is 60% movie 40% music

Well for the sub for $600 I would look into the Elemental Designs A5 - 350 it is a little lacking in the looks department but is a hell of a monster and they will leave it just a wooden box so you can have it finished anyway you would like if thats what you want to do.
As far as LCR I would maybe try to look at AV123 they have some good deals on there lines right now and have a no hassle return policy so you can listen to them. Just some suggestions for ya hope it helps.

Wow I can't decide now. Those acends A3's seem good and av123's make things alittle bit more interesting. How do you guys feel about the bic acoustiks?

I don't think the BIC Acoustech sound quality can come close to the AV123's. I know the Athena's don't.

Hmmm! What about the axioms?Ok,if I had the chance to buy a set of energy
C-7 or C-9's used, which would you recommend then, saying I was able to pic up a pair around 600.00.

I have never auditioned Axioms. From all I have read they have a brighter, more forward tweeter then the AV123's. For some this can be fatiguing to listen to for long periods of time.

Again I have never auditioned the Energy's.
