This fall I'm planning on purchasing a new TV. For the longest time, I've been drooling over a Pioneerr Elite 50" panel. I know the new ones being released in Sept. will be awesome...but not cheap I'm guessing. So, is it worth dishing the coin, or should I be looking at a projector/screen set up? Can you even get a comparable proj/screen for that money?

My room is fairly small so a 50" panel would be sufficient...guess I could go bigger if need be.

new tv suggestions

I have two setups. A 42" Samsung plasma and a Mitsubishi HC3000 projector /Carada 106" screen combo. Both are amazing, but the projector setup always gets the "HOLY *%#@)!" comments. You need to consider the type of use. The projector is in a dedicated room, with controlled lighting (read dark). The plasma is setup for more everyday use. Both good choices.

Good call..maybe in my next house I can explore the projector option a little further. For now, the room in question is fairly small...a 50" plaz should be perfect. Just waiting to see the Sept release of the new 1080p Pioneers. I'm realizing more and more from reading things on this site, that it's not all about 1080p etc. but video processing and other technologies have just as much if not more to do with it.

I don't know anything about Pioneer plasmas, but I saw something last night and it might be up your alley. The Pioneer PDP-5000EX Plasma TV (which is 1080p) is on sale at onecall.com this weekend for $4200. Check it out here.
