What the heck is dual mono?

My kenwood receiver says that i'm able to get dual mono from multiplex dolby digital sound??? and to top it off they ask if i want it through my main speakers or the sub or both at the same time? 1. Can anybody explain to me a little bit about dual mono and it's benefits. 2. Who has that multiplex sound? 3. How should i set up my system for that thing if it exist?

Dual mono is playing a mono signal (one channel) through 2 speakers. Some older movies have DD 1.0 soundtracks (The Warriors is one I have).

Normally DD 1.0 will be played through the center channel speaker only but some receivers allow you to choose to play it over both the left and right front speakers, which would be dual mono (both speakers play identical content).
