what should i go with. i don't care that i have to put the dayton together, i enjoy doing that kind of stuff. my psw303 does a good job at what it does, so im thinking the psw505 should be great, but polk is not especially known for their bass. the specs for the dayton seem to be a better bang for the buck and more dynamics. anybody ever own either?

The Dayton kits do offer more value, but you have to build it yourself and I actually never though about what that means for warranty... Do they warranty the kit or individual parts?

For around $550, you can get the SVS 25-31PCi which will have plenty of output and it is a 12" (all of the cylinders are). From HSU, you can get the VTF-3 Mk2, which is also a 12" sub for $560 and the VTF-2 Mk3 for $469 (also 12").

they warranty each part....the sub and the amp...no matter what. i look at the hsu vtf-mk2 and delivered and it costs 612. the dayton cost 573. a little diffrence but what do you think is better.

The VTF-3 Mk2 and VTF-2 Mk3 are practically the same sub according to the info released, so I would probably lean towards it. I have heard the VTF-3 Mk2 and it is a very nice sounding sub. Either of those would be excellent choices. I haven't tried any of the Titanic kits, but I'm sure they are good for the price too.

I would go with the Dayton (infact, I'm thinking about going with two myself :D ).
partly because it's a verry good sub, that has a parametric EQ :)cool: ), and partly because SVS and Hsu are like the iPods of the HT realm.

No they're not. Not even close. Ipods suck, and are a rip off. You saying Hsu and SVS are poorly performing ripoffs?

I knew I'd get somthing for that.

no, I'm saying Hsu and SVS are like iPods in that "thay are so awesome, everyone has to have one!"
I'm not trying to say SVS and Hsu are in anyway "bad", I'm saying there are other fish in the sea.

however, unlike the iPod, SVS and Hsu will still be cool even after thay are no longer cool. :)

But Ipod aren't awesome. They're awesome like Bose is awesome.

SVS and Hsu are awesome like sex, except its easier to get a subwoofer :D

for 60 bucks more than the hsu, i can move up to the dayton titanic mk111 15. 1000 watts and 115 db peaks at 30 hz and goes down to 25.

I think he means people buy them because they think they will look cool to their friends for having them, regardless of their sonic capability.

If the Titanics sound that great to you, go for it. I'm sure you won't be disappointed. My 15" goes to 14Hz.

It's cool to hate on iPods like it was cool to hate on Microsoft a few years ago.

The cool kids like the Creative hard drive MP3 players, even though they're much larger and heavier. I dunno what they recommend as rocking harder than the 8GB Nano, though. Nothing else on the market even begins to approach its form factor and size. At least the Zen Vision:M and iPod look like the same type of device.
