First of all....Welcome. This is a great site with more information than I could digest and/or retain, and I've been reading it for about a year. There are some really fantastic people here, as well, but the most difficult question anyone can attempt to answer is "what speaker do I buy?" It is imopssible for me, or anyone else, to tell you what you are going to like when coupled with your room, your equipment, and your WAF (if applicable).
The best advice that I can give right now is to spend some time reading this site and/or AVS forum, as well as any other information you can get your hands on. After reading for a while you may be able to narrow your selection down to 4 or 5 brands that fit within your budget. Then get out and listen to as much as you possibly can.
Along the way, feel free to post questions and/or ask for opinions, but it is always best to do as much research as you can first. Then when you ask for opinions you can name specific brands and models for people to comment on. Most of all, enjoy every minute of it. I had a blast listening to speakers when I was shopping for my last upgrade.
