what speaker gauge is ok for my set up

hi guys! im hooking up my speakers this week and i wanna know whats the ideal gauge i can use. Im using deftech bp7004, clr 2500,bp2x, my receiver is a denon avr 3806 dvd player is a denon 1920

im thinking of getting this 12g one from ebay

is this ok? i thinking w/ the price its a bit cheaper. coz i saw a 25feet 12g one at the electronic store and it cost around $30

also whats up w/ those oxygen free wires? whats the purpose of the oxygen free???

The gauge to use will depend on the length of the wires. 12 AWG wire should be fine for about anything that you're going to do. You don't need to spend a lot of money on it. Some people think that ordinary electrical cords from the local hardware store are just fine.

That is $40 for 50 ft, delivered. The gauge may be right, if you have long runs but 14ga may be just as good. In either case, you want to check prices elsewhere, Home Depot for one. You should also check low voltage landscape wire for cost.

thanks for the reply. i check home depot where i live but they dont have 12-14gauges. dunno why. nyways ill check out other shops. my brother in law has monstercable 16gauge ones. do you guys think it can handle it?

16 gauge is fine if the run is under 30 feet. Up to 50 feet you may still not notice any audible difference although there will be some small losses over a longer run like that.

So how far do you have to run the speaker wire?
