What should I watch first?

My Panny bd55 is coming next week and I'm thinking about what my first blu-ray movie should be.

Ironman, Batman, Casino Royale? Something else completely different?

I think either Iron Man or Transformers is a great place to start.

Any more suggestions?

My Panasonic DMP-BD35K will be here Thursday. Even though it is an X-mas gift from my GF I think I can convince her to let me have it early. :D

I'd wait for Dark Knight (9th), but if you can't wait that long I think Iron Man, Hulk or Transformers would all be good choices. Kung Fu Panda was quite good also. Wall-E was OK, not worthy of a must see.

I haven't seen Dark Knight yet, so that would probably be my best choice. I think she is getting that for me for X-mas though so she probably won't let me rent it.

just make sure to turn off the dynamic volume limiting thing if your panny has one :D

Iron Man / Incredible Hulk / Casino Royale

Out of my 32 title blu-ray collection, Transformers is still the king as far as PQ and SQ goes. It is also one hell of an entertaining movie if you ask me :)

Transformers is good overall, but the movie itself is where it lacks. Dumb, popcorn movie with a lot of bang-whiz-pow :) Iron Man was at least a decent flick.

Shame on you! I thought Transformers was a damn good movie, especially if you grew up watching the cartoon as a kid like I did. I thought it was better than Iron man in every regard... however, R. Downey JR. did an amazing job acting in that movie. You should see him in Tropic Thunder :D

"I'm The Dude, Playing the Dude, Disguised as Another Dude" haha!

I watched the cartoon as well, and that is exactly what I didn't like about the movie - the story. Good demo material though. Iron Man wasn't one of the greatest movies I've ever seen, but it is also good demo material and the story was at least cohesive.

Its actually epsidoe 6. ;) I've already watched the entire set on BD, and I watched Carentan at least 3 times, all others once so far.

Try Galapagos. Good nature doc, with very good PQ. I was personally disappointed with PE's pq, as the content is so good.

It was only $41 very recently, check to see if its still going, and even if it isn't, sometimes they might reinstate it later.

I'm sorry to say that I advise you against buying directly from WHV. Use amazon instead if you have to please.

Planet Earth is hit or miss, even within the same episode. Some scenes look spectacular, others not so much. It depends on how it was filmed, on what kind of film, with which camera and in which conditions. When they had an environment that they could control somewhat well, the shots look amazing. When they had dark or even sometimes far/busy shots, it often looks too grainy. It is very uneven, though I wasn't totally disappointed with it; it just isn't the best thing I've seen on BD. Content wise though, I thought it was an excellent series.
