What movies use surrounds most effectively

What I mean by that question is ..not so much for the gee whiz wonder bang excitement but which really adds a sense of realism to the movie. I have two offerings that spring to mind.

Master & Commander: the opening where you can hear the creeks and groans of the ship

U571: Rivots popping as the Uboat submerge's below its design limits.

I watched Ratatouille on Blu-Ray this weekend and loved the way the surrounds were used. It made me feel I that was in the space shown on the screen.

I just watched Bad Boys II the other day and my surrounds were pretty intense
you could typically hear the bullets hitting the ground
the same goes for the matrix...like the bullet time is very nice sounding for the surrounds

I watched it last night, in SD {wishing it was in HD, but it looked great}, I too was impressed with the use of surrounds. It was in Dolby EX.

And of course the previously mentioned, U5, Master, Top Gun.

Ratatouille is indeed great. However I feel that sometimes sound designers use surrounds just to do it, not necessarily because it recreates what is happening on the screen.

Case in point, there is a scene in Rat, where Remy is talking to his brother and some other rats about sneaking into the restaurant and stealing food. That buff rat is standing in front of Remy, to the far right of the screen, yet his voice comes out of the surrounds, as if he was standing behind you. Sorry, but I'm looking right at him, so he can't be behind me. Just a small thing, but it kinda bugged me a bit.
