What is the suggestion...

I am looking at the Yamaha RX2600 or Denon 3805/6 and I am trying to find a good pair of SMALL spaekers to fit my small home livingroom. I have narrowed to these three (after some folks spun me up on the polks)

Polk RM20 series
Mythos Pro Cinema 60 (or 80 or 100 - money dependant)
Gallos package (most likely one orb sets with a good sub)

My problem is that I haven't heard the Gallos yet, but the other two sound pretty good - I just can't find a place that has the polk and mythos in the store. What are your recommendations and or good and bad thoughts. I did look at the mirage nanosats too - they sounded OK just a little weak in the mid-range. Here is my house (as posted in another area of the boards)

I'd also consider the Hsu VT-12 system. It seems, based on the set ups you've listed, that you want an all inclusive package. This one seems to get solid reviews. The most important thing that I see in it though, is that you buy it in conjucntion with a solid sub...that is, the VT12 is really just 5 speakers (no system sub), but then you add on a solid sub that seems to do pretty well on it's own. What that allows you to do, for instance, is if down the road you decide you want to upgrade, or move your system to another room, or feel that you want more oomph out of your speakers (beware: upgradeitits), you don't have to scrap the sub...you can hold on to and build around it as opposed to having to completely start over. And it seems to be in line money-wise with what you're looking to spend.

You can get the VT12:

and add a STF-2:
http://www.hsustore.com/stf2.html

and come in at $600 (you get $100 off the VT-12 if you order it with a sub). Not a bad set up at all.

I will need to try to find somewhere to listen the VT-12s and the axioms. Thanks!

These are internet only purchased speakers. Axioms have audition sites from willing owners. You may have more trouble finding the Ventriloquists, but you can always order, listen in your house, and return them if you don't like 'em.

so what is the big difference?

Ok, I have looked into the different speakers and see freq ranges on them varying from 30hz-30khz and 70hz-30khz.... what are the big shortfalls of having say a set of the 70hz-30khz Gallos speakers (since they are small and a little less obtrusive) or the 30-30's? I understand some of the midrange is missing, but what are the full disadvantages?
