I'm looking at buying a DVD recorder and the two modle types are, DMR-ES25S and the DMR-ES25. I have looked and can't seem to find a difference between the two. Does anyone know?

This is just a guess but most manufacturers append a suffix to the model number to indicate the color of the unit. So I'd say the difference is that the one ending in 's' is silver while the other model number is black.

Thanks MDS. When I went to order it in they told me that is what it means. S for silver case and K is for Black case. This is a Very cool forum and I have a lot of learning to do. Thanks again.

I don't know the difference between those two, but I recently bought an ES35V (which has a VHS unit too) and I was surprised at what a nice unit it is. I bought it mainly to record TV shows from cable and because I have lots of VHS tapes that I don't want to discard and found that as a DVD player and Cd player it really excels. Coincidentally a reviewer at Sensible Sound bought one for the same reasons, decided to do some tests using a CD hazard test disk and found that the unit performed better than some expensive players. I like stumbling into something fairly cheap ($260 at Best Buy) and finding that it does what it does really well. Assuming some family relation between Panasonic gear, they probably are both pretty good units.
